When I click “quilting” in the navigation header, it takes me to the home page.
The menu has “quilting” set to the article page. No redirects in place. When I type the url of the page in, it takes me to the homepage. What is happening?
May 25, 2019 at 9:49 am #910622JamesI have tried deleting “quilting” from navigation, adding the page back into menu and renaming it. Same problem occurs.
May 25, 2019 at 9:52 am #910625LeoStaffCustomer SupportHi there,
I’m not sure what you mean.
The menu item Quilting has the same link as the home page which is the posts page?
Not seeing anything broken.
Can you do this first?

That’s the thing, it should not have the link to the home page. Please see screenshot below of current menu. I have also deactivated caching plugin.
May 25, 2019 at 10:03 am #910636LeoStaffCustomer SupportSo where should it link to?
I tried your website
/quilting
and that page doesn’t exist. The menu system is all from WordPress itself and GP doesn’t have control over it.
May 25, 2019 at 10:06 am #910638JamesPlease see screenshot.
It should go to that link, but when I enter that link it redirects to homepage. No idea what is happening.
May 25, 2019 at 10:09 am #910639LeoStaffCustomer SupportThat’s not what the code is showing and again GP has no control over it:
https://www.screencast.com/t/5vPSlF1pYou can switch over to a default twenty series WordPress theme and the result should be the same.
I still see the caching plugin active. Please try clear then disabling it.
If that doesn’t help, then try #1 here to eliminate any plugin conflicts:
https://docs.generatepress.com/article/debugging-tips/May 25, 2019 at 10:37 am #910653JamesThanks mate,
It turns out it was the permalinks plugin causing issue. once deactivates issue solves, reactivated and issue comes back.
Any reason why this plugin wont work with GP theme? I have not changed any settings at all for it today and issue randomly started a few hour ago.
May 25, 2019 at 10:42 am #910657LeoStaffCustomer SupportHighly doubt GP is the problem. I assume the same problem would occur even if you are using a WordPress default twenty series theme.
GP itself doesn’t deal with or interfere with things like menu or permalinks – that’s all WordPress.
Also GP hasn’t changed in the last few hours so something else had to change in order for the problem to occur.
Might be worth checking with the plugin author.
Glad it’s solved ๐
May 25, 2019 at 10:44 am #910658JamesAhhh ok, no problem, yeah the only thing I did was install all in one SEO plugin, maybe they both clashed somehow. Thanks anyway
May 25, 2019 at 10:44 am #910659LeoStaffCustomer SupportNo problem ๐
Always go through the debugging tips when weird issues like this happens – it’s usually not GP.
We are pretty confident in that.
