I am a new user. Facing issues while editing the imported site
August 30, 2019 at 8:07 am #997286DavidStaffCustomer SupportHi there,
it looks like you have imported a couple of different sites from the Site Library – which will cause some confusion.
Was there one Site in particular that you wanted to use?
August 30, 2019 at 10:20 am #997382ChayanThanks for your reply David. I run a blog site and wanna use elementor page builder to design it. Can you suggest me a blog site which I can import and edit with elementor
August 30, 2019 at 12:49 pm #997442DavidStaffCustomer SupportElementor Free only allows you to edit the content of a page or post.
Elementor Pro does provide you with their Theme Builder templates. Non of the GP Sites use this.So if you’re looking for a site to use Elementor Free on then you can use any of them and just edit the content. I would avoid installing any that use Beaver Builder as you would need to remove this first.
You should always install a Site on a clean install and then import your own content. Otherwise there could be conflicts with the current setup.
You can read here on how to remove an imported site:
https://docs.generatepress.com/article/removing-imported-site/
Please note the plugin option it provides at the end of the article will Reset your database, this will remove all content. So please ensure you have backups or can import your content from elsewhere before thinking of doing that.
August 30, 2019 at 2:50 pm #997509ChayanHow to do the clean install in the current situation? Shall I just switch back the theme ? Uninstall and the plugins and then switch back to go? Sorry for asking too many questions. But there should be a detailed video tutorial available online for gp theme which helps a person with zero coding skills
August 30, 2019 at 4:30 pm #997539LeoStaffCustomer SupportDo you have any existing content (pages/posts) that cannot be deleted?
If not then you can actually just use the plugin method suggested in this section:
https://docs.generatepress.com/article/removing-imported-site/#too-much-workAugust 31, 2019 at 7:04 am #997782ChayanWell, Leo, my life is getting more and more difficult ever since I have switched to GP. Just look at any page of my site, I am getting “[elementor-template id=”13543″] [elementor-template id=”13402″]
” this stupid code. Even after resetting the generate press settings. I have around 20 contents on my site and I do not like to reset the WordPress. Is there any alternatives?August 31, 2019 at 8:41 am #997950TomLead DeveloperLead DeveloperHi there,
We’re working on a way to revert site library imports – it’s definitely a needed feature that’s high on our list of priorities.
Those elementor template shortcodes you’re seeing are likely “Elements”, which you can find in “Appearance > Elements”. If you trash those, they should go away on the front-end of your site.
This video might be worth watching to learn more about the Site Library: https://docs.generatepress.com/article/using-the-site-library/
Let me know if trashing the Elements works for you. If not, feel free to shoot me an email and I’ll be happy to help remove the rest of the imported data: https://generatepress.com/contact
