Hey there!
I’m trying to embed events from Modern Tribe’s The Events Calendar and am unable to do so. I cloned my site to a staging site to check for conflicts, and after disabling all other plugins it turns out it’s the theme!
The page in question can be seen at the url-provided/test. If I activate the 2017 theme the embed works, but it doesn’t in GP!
Currently the following themes and plugins are activated: GeneratePress, The Events Calendar, The Events Calendar Pro, The Events Calendar Filter Bar
How it ought to work: https://theeventscalendar.com/knowledgebase/inserting-calendar-content-posts-pages/#single-events
Any help to get to the bottom of this would be greatly appreciated!
Thanks for the great theme and the support!
February 27, 2018 at 8:55 am #507101TomLead DeveloperLead DeveloperThat definitely doesn’t look right.
Can you activate another theme and show the same page? I’m not sure what about GP would prevent any styles from coming through.
February 27, 2018 at 10:57 am #507187YusufJust activated the Twenty Seventeen theme – you can see the working embed on the test page.
Sorry to complicate things further, but I happened to have an old copy of the site on my machine and went ahead and updated it and then tested locally, and it looks like it’s working: http://7f62ac54.ngrok.io/test
Could this have something to do with my hosting (WPengine)?
February 27, 2018 at 1:33 pm #507299YusufWent ahead and pulled my live install to a local dev environment and, while closer to working, still broken: http://d43aa2c5.ngrok.io/test
February 27, 2018 at 9:23 pm #507513TomLead DeveloperLead DeveloperWhat you have with Twenty Seventeen seems to be similar to GP. The issue on the GP page is you have the “Page Builder Container” set to full width: https://docs.generatepress.com/article/page-builder-container/
If you set that to default, the content area will look normal.
February 28, 2018 at 9:21 am #508059YusufUnfortunately the container setting is already set to default on that page…
Back at the live site, here’s a test post: ~/test-post/
The browser console shows the TEC scripts loading on my end, but no display…
February 28, 2018 at 10:50 am #508170TomLead DeveloperLead DeveloperThe URL you set as your site URL in the topic is using the full width option in the Page Builder Container metabox. It has the
full-width-content
body class added, which is only added by that option. If that option isn’t selected, maybe you have a custom function happening somewhere adding it?
February 28, 2018 at 12:26 pm #508264YusufAre you sure? While the homepage uses the full-width-content option, the “URL-from-the-OP/test” page, where I’m testing the embed, is a post. When I search for “full-width-content” in the console I get no results…
On that site I’ve disabled all custom functions as well, so I’m not sure that that is the case either.
February 28, 2018 at 11:28 pm #508570TomLead DeveloperLead DeveloperAh, I was looking at the home page.
GP doesn’t alter the output of the content – it should work exactly like it does in Twenty Seventeen.
It looks like it’s using a core WP feature, which generates a preview of the linked post as long as it’s using WordPress.
Is there any way you can send me temporary admin login details so I can take a closer look?: https://generatepress.com/contact/
Thanks!
