    Hi there
You’ve helped me before on a test version of this site which is now live – thanks for that.
The site works and displays how I want it to on both large-sized screens and mobile devices, except over mobile networks (once browser cache is cleared).

In firefox I get ‘Secure Connection Failed: The page you are trying to view cannot be shown because the authenticity of the received data could not be verified’

In Chrome I get this: This site can’t be reached http://www.xxx unexpectectly closed the connection. Try checking the connection ERR_CONNECTION_CLOSED’.

I have tried everything that I and a few WordPress mates on Slack can think of, including deactivating W3 Total Cache plug in, deleting it and then removing all code related to it from the .htaccess file. I’ve gone into the wp config file and rewritten the https site url to change it from http. I’ve gone into the devtools in Chrome and it doesn’t give me any idea of what is up – in console and security tabs it gives the all-clear to all the resources, mixed content, etc. I’ve run the SSL (it’s a comodo one so pretty top notch) through various SSL checkers and it comes back clear inc for mmixed content. The only thing it complains about is that it’s using an old version of TLS but I don’t have an online shop at all and no one I’ve talked to thinks this could be relevant.

I’ve got the Really Simple SSL plug in changing all the media etc urls from http to https and that seems to be working fine.

I’m racking my brains for what to try next – is there anything related to the theme files (or how I might have used them) that I could be checking? I’ve done pretty ‘vanilla’ stuff – used the gui for everything and not changed things in the generatepress files other than what can be changed by using the customiser or ‘elements’ features.

I do have ‘adult content’ controls set up on my mobile connection – but this seems to be a security rather than a content issue so not sure that’s the problem.

    Thank you.

    Hi there,

I just gave this a shot and didn’t get any errors when viewing the site over my mobile network (with caches cleared).

I can’t think of anything that would cause it.

Is this only happening on your phone? Or have others reproduced it?

A number of others have also had the problem, but not all. It seems to be blocked on some ISPs I found today, so am now trying to get this aspect sorted. Possibly that will solve the problem. In the meantime, thanks.

Something like that might be server related? Just a guess – I’ve never heard of an issue like this before.

Just to share this in case it helps others – I ran it through https://www.blocked.org.uk/ and it showed up that at least three ISPs were blocking it. One specified that it was due to ‘pornography’ the others just didn’t specify a reason. However, as I was getting a mix of ‘adult content warnings’ and what looked like ‘mixed content warnings’ I gave it a try and used the reporting tool on https://www.blocked.org.uk/ to let the ISPs know. I wasn’t very hopeful.
However, within a few hours I had a response from one of the ISPs (02 network/Telefonica) saying that they had indeed blocked it, had now looked at it afresh in light of my lodging a report, and were removing the block, effective overnight.
I’ve checked it this am and it does indeed seem to be accessible to me again. This problem seems to be UK based and the blocking checker tool only relates to the UK ISPs.

Glad you got it sorted 🙂
