And if you activate one of the twenty-series themes, the pingbacks disappears?

Oh, I switched to Twenty Eleven, and they're there. When I switched to the client's previous theme, WordPress Theme 1283, they were gone.

That theme is old...I can't see the site anymore but is your Wordpress version up to date? It's currently 4.7.2

Yes, I reinstalled WordPress just a few minutes ago in the Updates page.

When I switched to Twenty Seventeen yesterday, the pages I wanted to inspect weren't available in the menu.

Menus need to be re-built when themes are switched.

I'm seeing a construction page, and the email you sent just has the URL so I can't log in.

Feel free to send me temporary admin login details through the contact form and I can take a closer look: https://generatepress.com/contact

Ahhh, I see the problem. Turning comments off simply stops others from commenting, but if there's already comments or pingbacks on the page, they'll still display.

To remove them, you can go into the "Comments" area of your Dashboard, then select "Pings" from the All comment types dropdown: https://www.screencast.com/t/lUWPBcCJk0Ay

Then, delete the pings.

Now nothing will show up, and since comments/pingbacks are disabled on the page, none will ever reappear.

It worked! Thanks!

Glad we could help!
