Removing Pingbacks

Hi, my client doesn't want ping backs displaying on the static pages of her site. I went to Settings-Discussion, and removed the checkmark from "Allow link notifications from other blogs (pingbacks and trackbacks) on new articles", like all the WP support forums say. This doesn't work. Is there something in the theme interfering with it? If so, how do I deactivate them?

Hi Nate,

GP does not interfere with that setting.

Are you testing with a new post? That setting doesn't change for the existing posts.

For existing posts, go to Dashboard > Posts > Hover the Title > Quick Edit and check off Allow Pings.

Let me know if this helps.

The pingbacks appear in certain Pages, not Posts. They're at the bottom of the content just above the comments sections. They actually seem to link back to posts within our own site.

If you're actually seeing pingbacks on your pages, you need to disable them.

In Settings > Discussion, uncheck this option:

Allow link notifications from other blogs (pingbacks and trackbacks) on new articles

You can uncheck the other two if you don't want comments.

This will prevent all future pages from getting them.

Now for the existing pages, go into edit them, and look for the "Discussion" meta box. If you don't see it, click "Screen Options" at the top right, and check the box next to "Discussion".

Then uncheck the "Allow trackbacks and pingbacks on this page." option: https://www.screencast.com/t/WvT5kBOpNo

Okay, I did that, and the pingbacks are still there.

Yes, it looks just like that. I have a screenshot of the pingbacks, how do I send it?

Ok, check it out.

Don't see a link here. Can you copy and paste the "Direct Link"? here?

What do you mean by direct link?

Well, I'm not sure there is a direct link with an http url. It's a screenshot I made with my MacBook with Command+Shift+4.

You need to save that screenshot in your computer, then upload it to this website: https://postimage.io/

Then it would give you a direct link as the screenshot I provided above.
