So I noticed after switching my site theme to generatepress theme, my pingdom score slightly went down. I suggest the Generatepress team to test this, create a new website, install auto optimize plugin and Add Expires Headers Plugin, with the twenty-ten theme, this will get the score to 98, then switch the theme to generatepress, the score will drop to 97. And requests jumped from 5 to 9!!! What are those extra 4 requests?
The following were perfect 100% A score:
B 89 Compress components with gzip
B 89 Add Expires headers

Lead DeveloperLead DeveloperHi there,
It’s hard to tell without seeing your website.
With Autoptimize installed, there should only be 2 or 3 requests on a blank install. Check out this install: http://speedtest.generatepress.com/
More info on that test site here: https://generatepress.com/fastest-wordpress-theme/
What about the actual speed of the site? Did it change at all?

Interesting, I think maybe its auto optimize, I removed this script from auto optimize: js/jquery/jquery.js
and the pingdom score improved, so I’m thinking that was the problem. My http requests went down to 4, and score to 99, which is amazing
But then I install woocommerce plugin the http requests on pingdom went up to 10, so woocommerce added 6 requests, thats insane, I’m trying to figure how to bring it back down.

Lead DeveloperLead DeveloperWooCommerce definitely isn’t great when it comes to performance, unfortunately.

Yes, but I don’t know of better alternatives, do you?

StaffCustomer SupportHi there,
not many free alternatives to match all the functions of Woo.
All of them are going to make additional requests so not sure there is a real improvement to be made.If its a simple shop, with no need for the backend options then maybe a simple buy now – paypal or stripe button ….. but they will still make 3rd party requests.
