    Hello guys,

I’m using a Custom HTML code to display social media icons at the footer of my site. I can’t paste the code here, so I’m pasting it at the hidden area hopefully you can see it.

Recently I noticed that the social icons are no longer displayed. I haven’t done any changes as far as I can remember, so I just wanted to check to see if you can help on that.

    Thank you in advance!

    Regards,

    Asen

How are you adding the icons with this custom html? Is this through a different plugin? Can you try clearing your cache?

In any case, this doesn’t seem like a theme related issue: https://generatepress.com/what-support-includes/

Alternatively, you can try adding the social icons through WordPress’ Social Icons Block or our very own Buttons Block.

    Hope this helps! 🙂

    Thanks Fernando, appreciate your answer.
I’m adding the HTML without a plugin, by inserting it with the built-in “Custom HTML” widget.
    Cleared cache, same issue.
How can I put the social icon block or the buttons block in a specific footer widget at the footer?
    I have only this https://paste.pics/G50I5

    You’re welcome Asen!

It seems that these specific Blocks are in Footer Widget 3.

Knowing this, you can go to Appearance > Widgets > Footer Widget 3 and add a Buttons Block.

Here is a sample video showing how to add Social Icons: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=q9YyXSBpRR0

    Hope this helps! 🙂

    Thanks again Fernando,

But I don’t have the + sign allowing me to add Gutenberg/GenerateBlocks elements at that footer area. https://paste.pics/G51T9

How can I enable that option?

    Hi there,

that would require Block Widgets to be enabled on your site… which it is by default.

So i assume you disabled that option using a function like the one we provide here?

    Hey David,

No, I haven’t disabled Block Widgets.
I checked in functions.php and the code you’re referring to is not present.
    How can I fix that?

Do you have any plugins that would disable it ? Like the Classic Editor?
If not – what version of WP are you running ?

Yes, actually I have Classic Widgets plugin which disables the block widgets.
Is the solution to disable it?

If you want to use Blocks in there, then yes you would need to remove that plugin.

The alternative would be to build your own Footer with the Block Element:

Thanks David, now I know how to sort this out.
