Hi Guys,
I got the screenshot captured from another website and liked it. ( Sent in private info box ). I wanted to check with you if it’s possible to create the side bar blocks like in the screenshot.
1) The sidebar with icons (I will change it to my categories) and search bar.
2) The slider for posts in the second block in the screenshot.Thanks.
October 2, 2020 at 8:14 pm #1469923LeoStaffCustomer SupportHi there,
It will definitely take some work to build something like that.
I would recommend using the block element with GenerateBlocks:
https://docs.generatepress.com/article/block-element-overview/
https://www.screencast.com/t/Svizyq7O
https://generateblocks.com/The grid blocks should help to build the two columns layout.
https://docs.generateblocks.com/article/grid-overview/Then you can use either the headline or button block to insert the icon if you have SVG icons available:
https://docs.generateblocks.com/article/headline-overview/#icon
https://docs.generateblocks.com/article/buttons-overview/#iconAnd then for the post slider, you will need to find a plugin for that.
If you can link me to the example in question, I can take a look to see if they are using any plugins.

October 3, 2020 at 6:07 am #1470378DavidStaffCustomer SupportHi there,
that is custom developed for that site it even has its own font icons.
Leo’s other suggestions would be a viable method or it would require custom development.October 10, 2020 at 4:31 am #1481731JatinThanks David and Leo.

October 22, 2020 at 8:16 am #1500111JatinHi Guys,
I found the same on another site. There must be easy way to do it ?
Someone asked a question with their website name in Private box with Screenshot.
Can you please advise as its also a GeneratePress ThemeOctober 22, 2020 at 11:31 am #1500341LeoStaffCustomer SupportThat is is using custom coding. I don’t think it’s easier than the method I suggested above.
If you right-click on the element, then you can see the HTML and CSS involved:
https://www.screencast.com/t/UvtPeMKAOctober 25, 2020 at 6:29 am #1503266JatinI am trying to create this layout using Generate Blocks but when i tried to create it and selected Right Sidebar this says “This will remove the current sidebar widgets for the selected sidebar. Your layout must have a sidebar set for this Element to show.”
I want to keep the other widgets and add this block into the sidebar. Is it possible ? I hope this make sense.
October 25, 2020 at 9:30 am #1503670DavidStaffCustomer SupportFor now the only thing you can do with the Block Element is to set it to Hook and set it to
generate_before_right_sidebar
orgenerate_after_right_sidebar
– so it can be either at the Top or the Bottom only.October 25, 2020 at 10:49 am #1503758JatinThanks, but is it not possible to place it at my desired position. Let’s say after my first block of sidebar widget ?

October 26, 2020 at 7:01 am #1504601JatinHi guys, Not sure why but i am trying to create what has been suggested by Leo. You can see that in a screenshot link in private info box. The issue is when i am created it in editor the icons are looking aligned and when i look at the actual page the icons are not in order in second row. I am using GenerateBlocks 2 column layout for creating this.
October 26, 2020 at 7:52 am #1504912DavidStaffCustomer SupportYou want to create a 4 column grid, then select each grid item and set its Desktop Width to 50%. This will create a 2 x 2 grid. This will allow you to keep those 2nd row elements aligned.
October 26, 2020 at 8:05 am #1504937JatinThanks David. I want to create 2×3 (2 columns and 3 rows). I have divided the Grid to 50% layout only. Is there any padding option for adjustment to align these.
