Updating GeneratePress

I'm trying to help but not getting some of the answers I need before I know what's going on.
If you are still using GP Premium 1.2.94, can you try manually updating here?
https://docs.generatepress.com/article/updating-gp-premium/#manually-updating
Once that's done, it won't be asking you to update again as you should be using the latest version already.
Then we can solve the unauthorized error for next time.
Let me know :)
Hi, here I am in a new day. I did yesterday the manually update, in the middle of our conversation. 2 minutes ago I desactivated the plugin and afterthat I activate it. Now it seems to be up to date. So for the moment the unauthorized error is maybe solved. But the main problem remains: the problem with the parent and children pages in the menu. The problem is born in the same time of the Wordpress update, so I have a quite big suspicion that something is conflicting between GP and WP.
We haven't heard others reported so I doubt it's a conflict between GP and WP.
We are using the latest versions on this site and all of our sites in site library as well and none of them has this problem:
https://generatepress.com/site-library/
Let's try this step:
- Double check to make sure you are using the latest version of free theme and premium plugin
- Disable all other plugins, does it solve the problem?
- If not, please send me login access through Account Issue here with all plugins disabled:
https://generatepress.com/contact/
Make sure to include the topic URL.
We will get it sorted :)
Hi,
to be sure I started to install the free theme once again. This is the message I got :
Installing Theme from uploaded file: easy-theme-and-plugin-upgrades.2.0.1.zip
Unpacking the package…
Installing the theme…
The package could not be installed. The theme is missing the style.css stylesheet.
Theme installation failed.
Plugin is in the correct version (I installed it yesterday) but...
Yesterday's problem with the update of the plugin unfortunately still exists. It shows me that I should update the plugin but I get a "unauthorized" message.
If I switch off all the plugin except GP, nothing changes.
In a while I send you the login access.
Thahk you very much!

To Leo: I'm using the correct way to send you the Login data?
I create for you an account with the rights as administrator.
If you are getting the missing style.css message that means you are installing GP premium as a theme which is the wrong way as GP premium is a plugin:
https://docs.generatepress.com/article/missing-style-css/
I also couldn't get your login to work.
Can you go to this page:
https://generatepress.com/contact/
Click Account Issue, fill out the form then provide:
- URL to login
- Username
- Password
Done
So first thing. You are still using a very old version of the plugin:
https://www.screencast.com/t/FrxYbU9L4g
Can you update it first using the manual update procedure here?
https://docs.generatepress.com/article/updating-gp-premium/#manually-updating
Make sure you see my note above about missing style.css error:
https://generatepress.com/forums/topic/updating-generatepress/page/2/#post-789253
When it's successfully updated, you should see 1.7.7 instead of 1.2.94.
Hi,
Ok, finally the plugin is up to date! (By the hard way, the easy way I used yesterday didn't apparently work).
About missing style.css : now that the plugin is correctly installed, should I do something more/different with the theme? I correctly see the theme in the theme's page. If you need a printscreen please tell me how can I inser an image. Version is 2.2.1.
And finally, the main problem still exists and some new problems are born...
Awesome. You are now using the latest version of the free theme and plugin.
Can you now disable all plugins except GP premium and see if it solves the menu issue?
And please open new topics for other issues.
Thanks!
Done. It still doesn't work, I'm sorry
I think see the problem with the menu.
Can you try if Hover option works?
https://docs.generatepress.com/article/navigation-dropdown/
It will also work better if you use a Custom link for the parent menu items:
https://docs.generatepress.com/article/using-the-wordpress-menu-builder/#custom-link
Let me know :)
Yes... magic! With hover it works. It gives me another problem (because of that I avoided hover), but this is my problem.
I still have a lot of smaller problem (the content of a page disappeared), I see any post on the homepage... but I try to manage a solution.
I know that custom link were a better solution but I need some time to work on it.
If you don't have better ideas, I think that we can consider the probleme solved.
If I will not be able to see something on the homepage I'll keep contact once again.
For the instance, thank you very much!
Laura
Should only take 5 minutes to create those parent menu items.
Then you should be able to use click if you want.
Glad I could help :)
I wish you a good evening, thanks again
