Unable to Use "Site Themes"
22 replies · Started by Hannah on September 18, 2018
Hello, I just purchased / downloaded/ installed / and updated GP Premium for a website I'm working on.
I'm trying to import / use one of the "site themes" however I am unable to activate any of them.
I've tried using the instructions in the video tutorials, and the documentation however the items I have available to choose from appear to be different.
Here is what I am currently doing to try and activate a "site theme"
First I go to Appearance > Generate Press > Site Library
Then I select a theme I want to use. In this instance I'll say I'm using "Pivot". When I get to the "Pivot" template I'll select the button "Details".
Once on the "Details" page I have two options. "Preview" and "Get Started" however Get Started is greyed out and unelectable. Despite my having the Beaver Builder plugin installed.
If I were to choose a template which has no builder requirements such as "awaken" my only options are "go back" and "back up options".
Selecting "back up options" downloads a json file for the template.
Any information would be amazing on getting these site themes working.
(Not sure if this would matter, but, my site is currently using a temporary domain)
Hi there,
Can you double check on these two things here?

Let me know if this helps :)
Hey Leo,
I did check with my hosting company and they are running PHP 5.6 as well as they were able to confirm the server can connect to generatepress.com and gpsites.co.
PHP 5.6 is very old and it's very nad for security of your site.
Can you ask them to upgrade to PHP 7 or above to test?
Hey Leo,
I can ask them that, but isn't Generate Press supposed to work with at least PHP 5.5?
That's the vibe I was getting from the other thread.
Hey Leo,
So I spoke with my hosting company again and they said at my current package I won't be able to update to PHP 7.
Is this going to keep me from using the Site Themes for GP Premium?
Thanks for your help btw.
Hi there,
PHP 5.6 shouldn't have any issues with the Site Library.
The other possibility is that your server isn't able to communicate with gpsites.co, which is where the sites are located.
It might be worth asking your host if the two servers can talk to each other.
Let me know :)
Hi Tom, I did confirm originally that my host could connect to both gpsites.co, and generatepress.com
To reiterate my original issue, I'm able to see the themes, and even download the back up data for them. I simply can not activate them on my sites.
Thank you so much for jumping in. :D
Any chance you can send me temporary admin login details so I can take a look?: https://generatepress.com/account
Be sure to mention this topic :)
Thanks!
Hey Tom,
I sent that email via the Contact page on the GP website.
Thanks!
Hey sorry Tom gave you the wrong link.
Did you send it through Account Issue here?
https://generatepress.com/contact/
I'm not seeing the e-mail.
Let us know :)
Hey Leo and Tom,
I did send it, I just resent it.
Though I had to re-set the password so please use the newest email. haha :D
That's really weird.
I'm still not seeing the e-mail.
Can you send it directly to support@generatepress.com?
Thanks!
Sent it. :D
Got it this time :)
Tom will be taking a look for you when he gets a chance.
Thanks for your patience!
