Matthias
Hello, GeneratePress team,
On https://www.cvandenhout.de, I am changing my site logo in Customize > Site Identity, but it won’t change in the nav bar. Even if I straight-up remove it (as I have now), it’s still the same logo from before.
I’ve spent about an hour trying to figure out what is going on here and my best guess is that I must have built this website back when you still had this old way of handling site logos, I think it had its own menu or something. And now I’m suspecting something has gotten stuck from that old way of handling site logos.
Of course, I googled this and I found this thread from 2020, where it’s suggested to activate an Element called, “Merge Header”. However, my Elements screen has no such option (see here: https://paste.pics/N0LRE).
So, now I’m at the end of my wits. How do I change my client’s site logo? 🙁
Checklist:
- All cache is cleared
- Caching plugin is deactivated
- Tried deactivating other plugins
- Using latest version of GP theme and Premium
- Using GP child theme
Any help would be greatly appreciated. You’re welcome to peek into the back-end.
Thanks,
Matt.April 6, 2023 at 7:09 am #2599503David
StaffCustomer SupportHi there,
so that is from an older site build – go to Customizer > Layout > Primary navigation, where you will find the legacy navigation logo.

Ahh, perfect. Thanks so much! Looks like my memory left me…
What would be the best way to convert this to the modern way of handling site logos?

StaffCustomer SupportIf you remove the Logo.
And then make sure the Customizer > General -> Structure is set toFLex
then it should bring it up to the latest version.April 6, 2023 at 9:22 am #2599823Matthias
Nice, thanks 🙂

Hello David,
Just a quick follow-up. I followed the steps you mentioned:
Remove the logo in Layout > Primary Nav
Set General > Structure to Flexbox
Set Logo in Customizer > Site IdentityNow, there’s no logo at all. The logo option in Primary Nav has disappeared, so has the dropdown for Structure in General.
Any way to restore the logo (without restoring the site backup I made ;-))?
Same login info from my first post still applies.
Thanks, and no rush, I know it’s Easter and I wish you a happy one!

StaffCustomer SupportHi Matthias,
Happy Easter 🙂
Now, there’s no logo at all. The logo option in Primary Nav has disappeared, so has the dropdown for Structure in General.
Other than there’s no logo showing, rest of this are normal behaviour.

StaffCustomer SupportOn your front page, you’ve disabled the site header which contains the logo.
https://www.screencast.com/t/UAcW1VkUFfP9Uncheck the box, you should be able to see the logo.

Hi Ying! Thanks for following up. I’d like to have the header off. This is unfortunately not the layout I aim for:
On just about every website I’ve built with GP and Beaver Builder over the past years, the logo appears to the left of the main menu in the nav bar by default. Example:
The above video shows the default setup of all my recent GP / Beaver Builder builds (I’d say, since around 2019/2020). You can see that the site header is globally disabled, and still, the logo appears in the nav bar.
How can I get the logo to appear in the nav bar?
Thanks 🙂

Hi Matthias,
I’m seeing the logo from my end: https://share.getcloudapp.com/o0uYGKr6
Were you able to resolve it?

Hi Fernando! I forgot to re-disable the header. The logo should be here:
Thanks!

Solved! I needed to go to Layout > Header and tick the box, “Navigation as header”.
Thanks 🙂
