JANE
We are trying to recreate a existing website with Generatepress. I added a custom footer element, but it is not appearing on the live site like it looks in the element.
Three things are different:
1. The menu and the copyright message should be centered.
2. The spacing between the menu items is different. I used multiple spaces to spread it out, but it looks like there is only one space when it appears on the site.
3. I don’t want the menu items to be underlined. Please help.
Thanks,

Can you link me to your site?

StaffCustomer Support1. Is the container block alignment set to align center?
2. You are using the WP paragraph block which offers limited control on style, can you try the buttons block of GenerateBlocks instead?
Please be noted, you can add multiple
button
block to abuttons
block: https://docs.generateblocks.com/article/buttons-overview/#buttons-container3. If you use the buttons block, you won’t have this problem.

I found the place to center the container block. When I got to the button block, I got completely lost. I opened the element for the Custom Footer, but I didn’t see anything that says “List View” and mentions buttons. Are you suggesting to start the Custom Footer over completely? I spent a half an hour trying to figure this out and I’m still lost.

Hi Jane,
Using the GB Buttons Block would be the easiest approach because of the styling options it has.
If you use a WP Paragraph Block, you’ll most likely need custom CSS to alter it.
Example of how to recreate your Menu items through Buttons Block: https://share.getcloudapp.com/Kou1k0WL
However, if you want to use the WP Paragraph block and custom code, can you provide a sketch or a short description of how you would like it to look like, and we’ll see if it’s possible through code?

I’d prefer to avoid getting into custom code if there is a better way to do it. To create the menu through Buttons Block, do I need to delete the footer I already created?

I think I figured out how to do it. I just changed the existing footer to blog only, so I can add another one.

I watched the video, but I got lost at the beginning. Where did the background come from?

StaffCustomer SupportWhere did the background come from
Do you mean the button block’s background? It’s by default. You can remove the background color in the button’s color settings.

I was referring to the gray rectangle that was there before the buttons were added. I added buttons, but the background around the buttons was still white. I know I must be missing something, just don’t know how to add a general gray background for the footer.

That’s the content background color you set in the customizer. It’s normal if you don’t have that background color in your page editor.

Do the buttons nested in a GB container? If so, you should be able to change the GB container’s background color.

Looking at it again, I decided to change the look of the footer. I added a footer element and all of the content. Then, when I added a link, the color of that text turned a dark turquoise color that makes it impossible to read. I checked the general settings in Customization, but I couldn’t find the source of the problem.
Please help. Link to site is below, where you can see the footer.

Hi Jane,
Can you try changing the Link color in Appearance > Customize > Colors > Footer Widgets and Footer Bar?

Hi Fernando,
I checked the footer widgets and footer bar settings and it is still the same. Doesn’t make any sense to me. What else can I do?
