[Support request] scrape key failed

I am using GeneratePress Child theme, but when I modify functions.php and try to save it, there’s a scrape key fail error resulting unable to save. Therefore I revert to default theme and the save is successful, after which I activated child thheme again. Any insights on how to debug and solve this issue?
