My excerpt word count doesn't work anymore.

My excerpt word count for 15 words doesn't work anymore since I include a new category to my website with a description. My custom setting is for 15 words but it's showing the full introduction of each article in my blog roll. Is there a way to limit the word count to 15 words according to my custom setting?

Thanks.

Hi there,

how are you setting the excerpt word count ?

I go to customize, and then layout, blog, and excerpt. I type in the word count I intend for it to display. By the way, this was working the entire time and I have never had issue with it until today after adding a new category and updating my generate press. How can this be fixed?

Were these posts imported, as the post is returning a manual excerpt has been set by a More tag in the post ?
If you check each of those read more links you will see the #more-id jump link, which only gets added if the post had a more tag inside. More tags override the auto excerpt.

I noticed this started after I sent my last post and added a new category - Anti-Aging Skin Care. No, there are no post with a more tag inserted. I don't have a reason for including a more tag and have just checked. I also clicked on display tag in the custom area and couldn't find a more tag. I'm really hoping this issue is resolved, as it's made my site look disorderly, my opinion. Looking forward to hearing from you soon

In addition to the above, I also noticed that my block editor is not updating. This is driving me nutty

Can you try disabling all your other plugins to test?

Can you give a hint of which plugin might be causing the problem instead of asking me to disable all of them??? please I really need you to look into this. Thanks

I don't know what plugins you are using and this is the 1st step of standard debugging process, without deactivating all plugins it's impossible to trace the cause unfortunately.

If it's a live site with traffic, you can always create a staging site and send us the admin login, so we can do some more digging.

Yes, it is a live site with traffic. And how do I send the admin login through a secured link?

You can use the Private Information field below. Its a secure form, that only us admins can see
