Hello GP Team,
I need your help please with something driving me nuts. I’m using simple GP Mega Menu instructions.
How can I have the mega menu panel full screen width while the inside Navigation remains contained and equal to content width?
I hope you understand me,
Thank you very much for your help.February 21, 2023 at 5:01 pm #2541883Leo
StaffCustomer SupportHi Adrien,
If David’s solution here doesn’t work for you then I don’t think there is a solution for the problem unfortunately.
The alternative solution you can try is to disable the navigation as header option in the customizer:
https://docs.generatepress.com/article/navigation-as-a-header/Then set the navigation location to float right:
https://docs.generatepress.com/article/navigation-location/The result should be quite similar but with a narrower mega menu.
Maybe give that a shot?
Those are the only 2 solutions we are able to offer here unfortunately.
If neither of them work for you then you would need to look for a mega menu plugin.February 21, 2023 at 5:07 pm #2541889Adrien
This is an example of what we need: https://www.lemonde.fr

If we can’t do that, then the mega mega as it is can’t be really used unless you have a full width navigation.
Please GP Team, consider updating your Mega Menu. It’s been a long time.
Thank you very much.

Do you think we could rebuild this mega menu using Elements >> Blocks >> Tabs?
PS: I test max-mega-menu quite a lot. It’s not easy and I felt I was very limited. It also took forever to fine-tune. I think navigation/menu is better dealt by the theme than a plugin.

StaffCustomer SupportOur mega menu CSS solution is meant for a very simple mega menu.
If you need something more complex like the example site, then you would need to find a suitable mega menu plugin.
At this point, we do not have the plan to implement a mega menu feature in the theme as it’s not popular enough amongst our users.
We work very hard to only add the features that are useful for the majority of our users in order to keep the performance of the free theme and premium plugin optimized.
Hope this provides some insights.

I think we have a miscommunication. I don’t want anything complex. I simply needed the mega menu panel full screen width while the inside Navigation remains contained and equal to content width.
How do you know what is popular among your users? I’ve never received any survey and I don’t see a way to suggest feature requests.
If you Google “Mega Menu GeneratePress”, it shows otherwise.

Unfortunately we have provided all the help we can in your previous topic and this reply already:
https://generatepress.com/forums/topic/mega-menu-full-page-width-with-inner-contained-nav/#post-2541883I would say that David’s CSS solution would be the closest to what you need. If that doesn’t work for you then you might need to contact a developer to create a custom solution using a service like Codeable suggested at the bottom of this page:

Thank you.
I suggest you also update your documentation with something like:
You can’t set the mega-menu Full-page width while keeping navigation items contained.
English isn’t my forte but you know what I mean.
This would help.
