This may not be anything to do with GP but I am trying to eliminate the problem. I have built a new site using GP and minimal plugins at this stage. But I still get the message from Google “Indexing allowed? No: ‘noindex’ detected in ‘X-Robots-Tag’ http header”. I have been advised “If that doesn’t solve it, you have to go to Appearance >> Theme Editor >> header.php. Make sure you don’t have the X-robot directive in the header. The directive looks like this – header(“X-Robots-Tag: noindex”, true); – If the directive is there, eliminate it or change “true” to “false”.”

First of all, is it possible that this statement is in the header file in the first place?
Second, if it is, where can I find the file because I don’t see it in Appearance >> Theme Editor >>

    Hi there,

GeneratePress itself doesn’t have that tag added to header.php.

I would bet it’s one of your plugins. If you view your source, you should see the tag. Then I would deactivate your plugins one by one until it goes away.

Let me know if you need more info 🙂
