How do I get the container to show at the bottom of the featured image?

Something like either of these ?
More like the top one except extending down further and the bottom not in line with the bottom of the image. I would also like it to look as it shows in Leo's video with the Written by on top, then the title, then the date.
Is this possible?
Hi Heath,
We are all having some trouble understanding what you are after.
What about this?

Did you try using the code I provided here first and modify it from there?

Hey I'm sorry I'm having trouble with what the white space is called. I'd like to move it from the side to most the very bottom and middle of the featured image.
Something like this is what I'm after.
I want the same settings that Leo used in the video on the hero with the same written by, then title, then the post date. I want it to look like the video on YouTube. I'd like it fit in the box outlined in the image below. Is this possible?

If so here is the HTML:

That's what I want. So do I set up the element as in the video and then add the html after?

I'm just about to give up. When I copy the code and then paste it into code editor as shown.....it doesn't show the image.
When I go to the post it now shows several of the same featured image. My lack of knowledge on this is frustrating me.
Thanks for all the help.
Were you able to resolve it?
If not can you link me to the page in question so I can see the issue?
