The blog post problem has occurred again – this time on a different web site. I have one post. I have a home page and an about page. Whenever I click the home button in the menu – I have a page which is empty.

I have the following (set identically in my other website which is working):

    Customizer:
Front Page – displays latest posts
    (I currently have one post)

    Blog, Blog Content
    Blog Post – Show excerpt
    Excerpt 25
    Read more
    Show/Hide other options

    Menu Settings

Home – with custom link jane-ripley.com
    About

    Settings
    general
    URL jane-ripley.com

OK – so what am I not getting?

    Thanks for your help guys.

Hi Jane. This is what is displayed in the browser when you click the Home menu button:

    http://www.jane-ripley.com/?page_id=62

And this is the anchor tag on the menu link:

    <a href="http://www.jane-ripley.com/?page_id=62">Home</a>

Which would seem to indicate that the menu item is pointing to a defined page which doesn’t have any content.

What happens if you change your Home menu item link to http://www.jane-ripley.com ?

    HI DB,

I have checked the custom link and it is just pointed to jane-ripley. Is this something else? Sorry I am really new at this. Is there somewhere else I should be working on the menu link other than appearance, menu?

    Thanks,
    Jane

    Hi Jane,

Your Home link is definitely linking to http://www.jane-ripley.com/?page_id=62 instead of http://www.jane-ripley.com/.

If you’ve confirmed that the Home Custom Link is pointing to the correct URL, make sure the “Theme Location” of that menu is set to “Primary Menu”.
