[Support request] Help – Overwhelmed with GeneratePress

Hi there, looking to create full website with main pages, services pages, then blog also. I’ve used WP and Elementor in past and found fairly straightforward. What I didn’t realise until watching yet another video was that it also needed Generate Blocks installing. But I’ve installed this and am using now, but all the text and objects are appearing greyed-out on the page I’m working on.

Hi David, GP doesn’t seem to be a WYSIWYG editor, there’s a real disconnect in terms of working visually, not used to this way of working to be honest.

Wanted to get container to go full width at top of screen (below menu bar). Tried everything, still getting white band all the way round. Also, why does the page have to have page title text, looks messy?

If you want to create full width page like an elementor canvas then, in the editor sidebar page panel, look for the Layout Metabox:

And set the Content Container to Full Width.
And below that Disable the Content Title.

Now begin building with GB Container Blocks where you can add padding, backgrounds etc.

this is making me pull my hair out, just very fiddly. How do I sent a screen shot to you?
What I want to do is so basic, basically want a full width hero at the top, but getting the surrounding band. Very depressing as I’ve wasted so much time trying to get used to GP. As I said, used themes and Elementor most recently, very easy. This is something else. Yes, the concept is simple, but the practice in poor. Not a WYSIWYG, so really disconnected. At the point where I may be asking for my money back and going to Divi perhaps. Sorry, but not good. You need to produce a really high quality video for people that want to get rapidly up-to-speed in GP, otherwise you’re going to lose people. I’ve been doing websites since 1996 with Dreamweaver, done many over years (not a full time web designer), but this is not what I’d read it was supposed to be.
A) Can I send a screen shot to you so you can point me in correct direction (how to do this?)
B) Can you tell me if I’m better of setting up a hero in Elements. Really is too much information for people new to it.

Hi Ying, please see this page in link below. Just don’t understand what’s going on, it’s not transparent. Can you comment on why I’m previewing greyed out screen, also why is it showing darker blue to edge of screen, then when previewed, there’s a space around it. Also, what’s the white row above the blue. Is this not supposed to be WYSIWYG?

Still trying to get the Page Hero I created in Elements to appear on the front page, can you go into my setup and take a look, been trying to sort this for days?
