Hi, just on clarification. Yoast repeatedly tells me:
“H1s should only be used as your main title. Find all H1s in your text that aren’t your main title ”
I have two H1 titles – one in the block element page hero template and the other in the Post – should I not include the H1 title in my Posts?
Thank you.

Hi Robchanoi,
Do you already have your Post title in your Page Hero? If so, you can opt to Disable the title, or you can also try turning the Headline Block in your Page Hero to an
h2instead to avoid twoh1s.Hope this clarifies.

Yes – post title is set to H1 in element/block/hero – I am not talking element/header as I believe there are 2 ways to create headers in GP.
So you are saying change H1 to H2 in element/block/hero and keep the H1 in the post or page?
Edit: Disabling does not remove Yoast messages.

Yes, you can either:
1. Disable the title: https://share.getcloudapp.com/9ZuoGk5J
2. Make the Headline Block an H2: https://share.getcloudapp.com/geuRkN6zHaving duplicate titles is bad SEO practice though, briefly searched on Google. I’d say 1. is the better option.
Hope this clarifies. 🙂

So to clarify – disabling title in block hero headline means it still features in the block just doesn’t tell search engines to take notice?
Tks

Disabling the title in the Page Hero disables the default Title generated. It wont disable the Title you have in your Page Hero if you have one set there.
To clarify, do you have the Page Title displayed in your Page Hero.

– disabling the title in the Page Hero disables the default Title generated.
I don’t understand what you mean sorry – i have disabled title but it still generates the title.
Yes – I have page title displayed in page hero as H1 as stated as well as in the post.

Disabling the title as such: https://share.getcloudapp.com/9ZuoGk5J should disabling this for instance: https://share.getcloudapp.com/wbuXAEXk which is the default generated title. This would leave the Page Title from the Page Hero above.
Perhaps you can share a link where this issue is evident and I’ll take a closer look at what’s happening?

” This would leave the Page Title from the Page Hero above.”
So u are saying it ” should not ” appear on the webpage?
Links left below.

The Page Hero Title would still appear on site if you disable the title. Only the default one will be removed.
Looking at the link you attached, the H1 under the image is not the default title. It is manually created through a WordPress Heading Block.
You can turn this to an H2 instead.

Hope this clarifies!

So I should turn all my H1 titles at the top of all my posts to H2 providing I have a block there for my H1 title?
May 26, 2022 at 2:29 am #2233126Fernando Customer Support
That would depend on you. It would be best to have just one H1 as mentioned in your test.
So the options now is either of these three:
1. Turn your H1 Heading Blocks to H2
2. Or turn the Page Hero Title to H2 as mentioned previously
3. Or just keep one.It would be good to consider checking which would be best for SEO. Example: https://www.movingtrafficmedia.com/are-duplicate-title-tags-bad-for-seo/#:~:text=If%20you’re%20using%20duplicate,of%20making%20decisions%20for%20you.
Hope this clarifies.

Or turn the Page Hero Title to H2 as mentioned previously – I am still not following you.
Does the above mean changing post title to H2 or what other page hero are you referring to?
1. I have one element/block/page hero with a H1 headline/title.
2. Posts also have a H1 headline/title.
3. I have enabled disable title but I am still unclear what this does. It is still enabled on webpage so does the “disable title” mean search engines won’t read two H1 titles?Easier at end of day just changing element/block/page hero/H1 headline/title to H2 and then presumably not disabling the title?

StaffCustomer SupportHi there,
you have some choices:
a. Edit your Hero Element, select the Headline Block and change it to a H2. As its a GB Headline Block, you can use the styling controls to make it look larger if you wish.
b. Leave the Hero Element as is, and instead of adding a H1 in your post content, make it a H2.
c. Ignore completely what Yoast has to say, Googles John Mueller has made it clear on many occasions that modern search engines don’t care how many H1s there are on a page. Whats important is the title, if you feel you’re reader needs two big titles on the page then leave it as is.

Thanks David, – change headline block to H2 – that I understand, but I “leave hero element as is” – this part I do not understand. I thought I only have one hero element and that is part of the element block.
and then you state: “and instead of adding a H1 in your post content, make it a H2.” – so where will the H1 appear if not in the element block and not in post title?
