    Hi,
    Hope you are doing well
We wanted to know if there’s anyway we can create a custom homepage starting with a grid like (https://ultp.wpxpo.com/design/post-grid-5-style-5/) this below the header?

As I saw the Generateblocks plugin and there are option to make grids, but they aren’t made to show the latest posts from a specific category e.g. “Featured Stories”

We want to try and use generatepress for our technology news blog having over a Million monthly traffic (Link in the private information).

We really hope that Generatepress would clean our website’s code and make it faster to load and help us “one-click” update the theme and plugins without manually the changes all the time.

We found this plugin https://ultp.wpxpo.com/ it really suits our needs but, if we bought GeneratePress, the sole reason was to remove all extra plugins and make the site load faster but should still have a beautiful and professional magazine layout.

We saw the “Dispatch” in the site library but that is too simple and the font and the grids aren’t very good looking. Also, it’d require us to heavily customize the theme before we could make it live.

Hoping for a detailed and helpful reply from you guys.

    Cheers
    Fahad.

    Hi there,

we are working on our Query Loop feature for GenerateBlocks. This will allow you to design your own post grids and create similar magazine layouts. We plan to release this within Q1 of 2022. But its a big update to GenerateBlocks so don’t expect to see much before the end of the quarter.

In the meantime you would need to use a plugin.

    Hi David,
    Thanks for the reply.
We’d definitely try and use GenerateBlocks when that feature is available.
But, for now, we need a plugin to start with.

Can you please recommend one for the purpose that I mentioned above?

Also, would you recommend https://ultp.wpxpo.com/ along with GeneratePress? Considering the concerns that we have for “load time”.

    Thanks.

I generally use WPSP or custom develop my own post loops if required. So i cannot really recommend a plugin.
The one you linked to has some very fancy features , which may unfortunately come with a performance hit.

    Hi David,
    Thank you for replying.
Okay, but I’m not a developer to make my own post loops and I think WPSP doesn’t offer options to create a grid that looks good. 🙁

    Hi Fahad,

You may want to consider hiring a custom developer for this, or get an alternative post grid plugin that lets you design it the way you want it to look. 🙂

    Hi Elvin,
Thank you for replying, can you please suggest a plugin that doesn’t affect the performance and let us design the grid for the homepage only?

We’re working on our own Query Loop Block in GenerateBlocks that will allow you design your own post grids, however this is still under development and i would not expect a stable release anytime soon.

In the meantime, you will need an alternative plugin or custom development as Elvin suggested.
Unfortunately apart from WP Show Posts we don’t have any recommendations for a performant post grid plugin

    Hi Fahad,

See David’s recent reply here: https://generatepress.com/forums/topic/how-to-get-every-content-body-same-size-and-how-to-add-content-homepage/#post-2178890

As mentioned, we’re scheduled to release the update for GenerateBlocks hopefully by next week.

    Hope this clarifies. 🙂

    Hi Fernando,
Thanks for the update. Can’t wait to test it out. I hope it works well and we could make great-looking grids on our homepage just like the example links I shared above.

    Hi Fernando,
Can I now create a magazine grid layout for my homepage?
If yes, can you please guide me, how?

GenerateBlocks 1.5 is in Alpha release at the moment:

It can be used for testing. The release candidate will begin in June.
