I originally placed the slider into the "Before Content"
hook so it was keeping the 1000px wide setting the same as the content
so I moved it to "After Header" hook.

I have the images set to 1600px x 500px but depending on the screen size
they are becoming distorted, its there a way around this?

I have this sorted, the slider was sized differently to the image sizes.
