Footer layout element and footer menu issues

Select which elements you want to disable
Then go to Display Rules - and set Users > Logged Out.
DO NOT set location or excludes.
This says 'i want to disable something for logged out users' therefore 'only logged in users will see it'.
Hi there, thanks for your late night support, I appreciate it.
This is exactly the settings I have used for both menus, but if I do not set any location or excludes the navigation menus are on my frontpage and registration page as well (logged out).
This message is not according to your guidance:
'This element needs a location set within the Display Rules tab in order to display.'

Thanks
Oops.
Set your LOCATION to Entire Site.
And your Users to Logged Out
This removes the 'element' from the Entire Site for Logged Out Uses. ie. only Logged in Users will see it.
That helped, thanks!
One could say that the text 'Display this element for specific user roles' is misleading then.
You're welcome.
I think the word 'Display' when we are talking about 'Disabling' elements can be misleading.
If you think of it as 'Apply' instead of 'Display' may help. Or maybe not :)
