Fav Icon not showing up consistently

Hi,
I've cleared my cache in Chrome and purged the server cache. I've got multiple sites. I added the fav icon via the customizer in Site Identity. It shows up for some and not for other sites, and, sometimes shows up if I "Visit Site" but when I go back to the Dashboard or any internal WP pages I get a black and white globe. I'd rather not have to upload a fav icon file for dozens of sites. Any ideas why adding it via the customizer may not work?

Ok thanks. I still don't get why using the customizer it shows up sometimes and not others. Odd. I was hoping to not have to upload every time to a folder but not the end of the world.

I can imaging how inconvenient it is.
But we can't do anything about it, it's something wordpress needs to figure out :)
