Elements - Generate Block - Video doesn't appear

Hi, and sorry for my English
First of all: I'm starting using Generate Block and I love it!
I'd like to create a new home page with it, in order to get rid of Elementor
But I have some problems:
1 - Main problem - Video doesn'appear (I can see on my site page only the link and not the video)
2 - Secondary problem - I would like to eliminate the padding under the video (I think it's default padding, but with Elementor there is no padding). My solution for this problem would be using additional Css code, is there another solution?
3 - Curiosity - I noticed that in the video block there are this additional Css codes that I didn't write: wp-embed-aspect-16-9 wp-has-aspect-ratio. Why is that?
My homepage with elementor: http://www.squarci.info
My efforts with Generate Block: http://www.squarci.info/test
Hi there,
first lets try fixing the video.
Can you add the full video url not the shortlink
Yes, of course, I've just put the full video link, but nothing happen
Hi Sandro,
I tried to add the same video on my testing site, it seems working correctly.
Can you try disable all plugins except GP premium and GB to test?
Let me know :)
Ok, I disabled all plugins except GP premium and GenerateBlocks.
Unfortunately the videos don't appear.
Now I have reactivated just Elementor, otherwise my Homepage would be horrible
If you add the Video block directedly in the test page without adding it tocontainer blocks or Gridblocks, does it show?
No!
I've just put the video block as first thing in my test page. It doesn't show!
So... in my website Elements doesn't like video
If the video is not working when you add it to your post then its not related to the GP Elements.
This means something is conflicting with the core Video Block.
As a workaround try the following:
1. Go to this site:
https://embedresponsively.com
2. Add your YouTube URL and click Embed. And copy the code it provides
3. On your test page, add a HTML Block and paste the code in.
Does this video display on the front end ?
... but I don't have this problem when I add the video (even the same video) to my posts or pages in general, I have problem with video block only when I use GP Elements. That's why I said "in my website Elements doesn’t like video".
Then I followed your workaround. It works!!! And I'm really happy for this tip
I just hope that maybe in the future (with some updates) I can use also the usual video block
I have another question, but it would be out of topic here, so I prefer to mark this one as resolved and I will open another one
Thanks as always :-)
Glad to hear it worked!!
I have this same problem when I updated to WordPress 5.9. The workaround works but none of my videos in previous posts are visible anymore. Is this an issue with the YouTube embed block and GeneratePress? I will now need to go through all my posts to update them if this is the case.
Hi Mark,
Can you share the exact WP, GP, GPP and GB versions your site is using? and perhaps a sample page where the issue occurs?
I've tested this on a GP 3.1.2, GPP 2.1.1, WordPress 5.9, GB 1.4.1 and the Youtube block seems to work fine as shown on this sandbox site's sample page - http://elvin.wppluginsupport.net/?page_id=15
WP 5.9 GeneratePress Version: 2.4.1 GPP 2.1.1
Right after the section "Porsche has announced their Vision Gran Turismo, the virtual racing car of the future. See the video below." there was a video embed. You can see it in the backend but not on the front. I completely missed this when I did my testing before I updated. When I use the Embed page that was referenced here and paste that as HTML code that version of the video is visible nit not the YouTube Embed block. For the pages that are fixed they are literally stacked above each other as I did not want to delete the original.
Hi there,
GeneratePress Version: 2.4.1 is like 2 years out of date. Might be worth updating the site on a Staging server to see if that resolves the issue. And even if it doesn't fix it ( and we can take a closer look ) its best to get it up to date.
Ok. I am using a Child Theme so I never noticed to be honest.
I will do that and test it all and get back to you.
