From my end, the previous and next post for this Post changed:

Best Time to Visit Joshua Tree for Digital Nomads (or Long-Term Travelers)

    See: https://share.getcloudapp.com/L1u61qk7

To confirm, do these two posts have a category similar to the Post: Best Time to Visit Joshua Tree for Digital Nomads (or Long-Term Travelers)?

Hi Fernando, ok so I think I know what’s happening now. I have parent and child categories and I have several child categories within a parent category and the navigation is showing any post within the parent category, which isn’t necessarily immediately relevant to the child category. OK, sorry that took a while to figure out.

Is there any way to delineate or organize the categories so it picks the correct one?

    Thank you 🙂

Tricky one, and i am not sure but we may be able to use the: get_adjacent_post_where filter to exclude terms:

    https://developer.wordpress.org/reference/hooks/get_adjacent_post_where/

Question, do ALL posts have a single child term ?
