Below is message I sent to plugin team after I did what one of you told me that is LEO. I talked to LEO after my results he told me that the suggested disabling requested by plugin team not possible “CSS files /wp-content/themes/generatepress/assets/css/main.min.css”

    Hey

Hey have been having issues with your plugin since 19-July-21. My CLS has been above the acceptable level. Now I decided to disable the plugin and test the values. The CLS value was amazing 0.001 after disabling then all other values were very terrible. How can you explain that and my CLS values was excellent before. Just all over sudden it messed up.

The support team told this “The “display: none;” is a CSS rule used to hide the update date on your site, and it can probably be changed in the theme options or in the CSS files /wp-content/themes/generatepress/assets/css/main.min.css”

The theme team is telling me its plugin issue now that my CLS value read 0.001.

Below is what I got after disabling the plugin. First Contentful Paint 3.1 s Speed Index 6.3 s Largest Contentful Paint 3.5 s Time to Interactive 12.7 s Total Blocking Time 2,030 ms Cumulative Layout Shift 0.001

    Your Response highly appreciated

The same plugin team replied the below conversation.

    Hi Martin,

Jurica from WP Rocket here. I’m the one who answered your previous ticket, and I’m still sure the problem is coming from the CSS. Please try disabling Combine CSS files option and test the site.

    Best Regards

Am wondering how can I get help if we go from back front back in this case.

Just give me a suggestion on this please

    Hi there,

i am a little confused as to what the issue is. It may be best we start from the beginning and explain what the ACTUAL problem is and not the problems occurring when trying to fix something….

Can you share a link to a post or a page where you’re having issues and i can take a look.

    Hi David,

I have been having issues of CLS score. I contacted you guys here is the thread: https://generatepress.com/forums/topic/cls-caused-by-article-update-date-by-hiding-using-css-display-none/#post-1934080

Now I was told that the this file cannot be altered by LEO “CSS files /wp-content/themes/generatepress/assets/css/main.min.css”

The plugin guys are telling me that where the issue is.

    Kindly advise

OK – so the issue is with the optimization plugin messing with the order and loading sequence of the CSS. Removing the display: none; property from the themes CSS would mean that both dates are permanently displayed. Is that what you want?

If you only want ONE date to show then you can add the PHP Snippet provided here:

    https://docs.generatepress.com/article/generate_post_date_show_updated_only/

This will ONLY output the 1 x Date.

OK – so the issue is with the optimization plugin messing with the order and loading sequence of the CSS. The plugin team is saying its the theme CSS. Here is what they said “The “display: none;” is a CSS rule used to hide the update date on your site, and it can probably be changed in the theme options or in the CSS files /wp-content/themes/generatepress/assets/css/main.min.css”

Removing the display: none; property from the themes CSS would mean that both dates are permanently displayed. Is that what you want? No that not what I want I just need one day. There are other things also being affected not only the date.

Below is also a reply from the plugin team “In your case, CLS is caused by article update date you are hiding using CSS display: none; Here is the screenshot https://i.imgur.com/zU596qR.jpeg, and here is the video how it happens: https://i.imgur.com/sE0W7fB.mp4

    I hope this helps.

    Best Regards”

    Am just confused now.

Just add the PHP Snippet i provided here:

    https://docs.generatepress.com/article/generate_post_date_show_updated_only/

This article explains how to add that PHP Code:

    https://docs.generatepress.com/article/adding-php/

This will remove the HTML for the hidden date, so it won’t ever be displayed.

    Hi,

Everything okay now and have done nothing on my site. I don’t understand what is happening. Hope it will not resurface again.

    Let me mark it resolved.

It sounds like there was some bad caching on the server that just needed clearing.

    Glad to hear its working!
