Thanks Elvin, I did already do option #2 above many times (in Code Editor) and it wouldn’t save as deleted.

So if I try the first option now, before I switch to GenerateBlocks, will I lose the columns?

Is there any LGC code I’ll need to save with that first option?

I believe you won’t lose the columns and it’ll try to reload you last progress editing with Elementor. But keep a copy/clone of the page or backup the site just to be on the safe side.

Note: Since you intend to switch to GenerateBlocks, I believe it doesn’t really matter if the columns stay intact as you will have to rebuild your page columns with GenerateBlocks anyway. 😀

You don’t have to save anything LGC related.:)

Note: Regardless if you were able to remove it or not, some editing functionalities might not be recoverable because of its history with Elementor. That said, you may want to consider creating a fresh new page in place of your current homepage to be rid of any issues caused by any previous edits made with Elementor and feel assured that any issues related to it won’t recur. It’s better in the long run.

Looks like I need to start a fresh Home page. Ouch. All of the duplicates of my Home page have these problems, and it’s getting worse, not better.

I must quickly get back online and cannot afford to be offline and learn GB, changing everything over from LGC. How can I start a fresh page that contains the original LGC template for the Catalyst home page (one+ years ago, as in the video you took of my home page earlier in this thread)?

Is that possible? Perhaps taking all the code for the Home page and deleting only the shortcode at issue. Or will that not allow the columns to display? This is what I don’t understand — is that shortcode needed if I keep LGC or is it some kind of ghost code related to it but from Elementor?

I am waiting for host to resolve backup and directory issues, so I still cannot backup my site myself. And a restore would just keep all the problems that I can’t seem to delete.

    Hi there,

Catalyst was updated to the GenerateBlocks a little while ago and i am afraid we don’t have the original LGC layouts. However, can kick start you with GenerateBlocks.

    1. Install the GenerateBlocks plugin
    2. Create a new page and set the Page Builder Container to Full width and No Sidebar.
    3. Select the 3 dot menu in the top right and change to code view
    4. Copy the code provided here:

    https://gist.github.com/1dc16db778566eb9e3d48b3c6b0a292f

    5. Paste the code into the page.
    6. Switch back to Visual mode.

This will give you the block layout version.
If you’re used to Elemntor then using GenerateBlocks will be simple.
