Jasmin
Hi there,
thanks for your awesome theme which I have been using for several years now.
This topic relates to the double tap issue on iOS Chrome. The bug I see is that I visit the site on iOS Chrome, I scroll and then need a double tap to open any link.
I have already removed the back to top button and I thought the issue was solved. But now I found out that the bug is still there.
I have tried to disable WP Super Cache and Autoptimize but the issue is still there.
It would be great if you could help me with this.
Best regards

StaffCustomer SupportHi there,
so if i start scrolling and wait for the scroll to stop completely then i can single tap any link and they work correctly.
if i try to tap a link before scrolling has finished then it requires that second tap, as the first tap stops the scroll and the second tap actions the link.Is that the case for you ?

Hi there,
unfortunatley the double tap is also required if I wait for the scrolling to finish.October 20, 2022 at 5:41 am #2379900David
StaffCustomer SupportI still cannot replicate the issue. Are you logged in to the site ?

That’s too bad. No I am not logged in. I am using an iPhone 7, iOS 15.4.1, Chrome Version 106.0.5249.92.

StaffCustomer SupportI tested on a few phones, including my old iPhone 7+, iOS 15.5 and that version of Chrome and its working correctly.
Are you able to connect to a different network ? I wonder if your router / ISP has cached an old file.Documentation: http://docs.generatepress.com/

I checked it in one Wifi and via mobile data. I deleted the cache in the browser, I used anonymous tab. It stays the same. I recorded it: at the end I tap one of the icons but nothing happens, although they are links.

StaffCustomer SupportHi Jasmin,
I notice this issue only happens on non-Safari browsers on iOS devices.
Can you check on Safari?
Let me know!

Hi Ying,
the issue only happens on mobile iOS Chrome, as far as I have tested it. I checked Safari and Firefox but there everything is fine.

StaffCustomer SupportIf that’s the case, it means Chrome is not compatible with some of our scripts, while the other browsers are fine.
So it looks like a browser issue, but we can’t control how individual browser reacts, Unfortuanly.
For now, can you try disable the mobile sticky mobile header to test?

Hi Ying,
yes, I can confirm that disabling the sticky header via the customizer (layout –> header –> sticky) removes the bug.
I re-enabled the header again and the bug is back there. So it seems that the sticky header is the cause for the issue.

StaffCustomer SupportThanks for confirming that.
But I don’t think we can do anything about it, it looks like Chrome needs to update its compatibility as the other browsers are having no issue.
I’ll ask Tom to take a look 🙂

Alright, thanks Ying. I would really like to leave the sticky menu enabled. But on the other hand this bug is quite annoying if one is affected.
Thank you!October 25, 2022 at 7:05 pm #2386567Tom
Lead DeveloperLead DeveloperHi there,
I can’t see any reason why the sticky navigation would do this, but Chrome can be weird on iOS.
Can you try turning off the sticky navigation on desktop (but keeping it on mobile) to see if the issue persists?

Hi Tom,
yes, the issue persists if I turn off the sticky navigation on desktop but keep it on mobile.
