Leo... you solved this problem for me.

I assigned my blog page as instructed and everything is working as I thought it should.

I will no longer be using WP Show Posts for my blog, but I am using it on my front (home) page for my website. I hope that won't prove to be a problem in the future.

That's the correct usage of WPSP so you are good there.
