Hi. I've updated my bio in Users > Profile > Biographical info however it's not pulling through in the article, unlike my image.

Also, how do I remove the default links as this doesn't seem to be related to User Profiles either. Can't seem to find a help article that helps.

Can you advise? Thanks.

Thanks, not a caching issue, unchanged in incognito mode and new browsers. Have sent link via private box.

I see.

While viewing this post, can you hover on Elements in the Admin bar: https://share.getcloudapp.com/6quzrNRm and then open the specific Block Element you’re using the generate the Author data.

Then first, to delete the links, kindly delete the Buttons Block.

With regards to the Bio Info, can you check if the Headline Block is retrieving the Author bio info as such: https://share.getcloudapp.com/yAu1rAjv

Kindly let us know.

Hi Fernando.

Sadly there's no Author or Buttons block in the back end > Appearance > Elements.

I'm using the Scribe theme and haven't deleted them. Please advise.

Thank you

Hi there,

in Appearance > Elements you need to edit the Single Post Page Hero

1. The Author Bio -

1.1 select the block with Lorem Ipsum, and delete it.
1.2 in its place, adda GP Dynamic Content block, and set that to display the author description.

Within you should see the Buttons Block.
Options:

1. Simple static links.
Select each button icon and update the URL.

2. Dynamic links - this will need those social links to appear in the User Profile. This isn't a default option in WordPress. Are you using Yoast or another SEO plugin that adds those fields? Let me know

Thanks for this, however there's no option for 'author description' - the closest is 'author meta', which isn't pulling the 'Biographical Info' info I need from my User profile.

RE: social media links. How do I add buttons for other platforms e.g. Twitter?

Theres a specific block called the GP Dynamic Content block. If you add that you should have these options:

https://docs.generatepress.com/article/dynamic-blocks/#dynamic-content

Social Links.
If you use Yoast then see here:

https://generatepress.com/forums/topic/unique-text-and-social-links-for-author-in-element-scribe-skin/#post-2248227

If you don't use use Yoast or another plugin that adds the links in your User Profile then see here:

https://generatepress.com/forums/topic/unique-text-and-social-links-for-author-in-element-scribe-skin/#post-2248137

They are a GB Buttons Block, that are displaying just the icon:

https://docs.generateblocks.com/article/buttons-overview/#icon

3. Switch back to visual editor.
4. You can now copy this block and paste it into the element.
5. Delete the draft post when you done.

Hi.

I've looked at your recommendation: "They are a GB Buttons Block, that are displaying just the icon: https://docs.generateblocks.com/article/buttons-overview/#icon"

However, clicking on the link icon in a GB Buttons Block as per the support page GIF doesn't bring up the icon options for me, only 'search or type url' and 'open in the new tab'

Also, could you advise how I show full name, not just author first name. Thank you.

Hi Stuart,

Here’s a short screen recording on how to copy and paste David’s code above: https://share.getcloudapp.com/nOuXRrxY

With regards to the GB Button, check if you have the Top Toolbar activated or not: https://share.getcloudapp.com/4gurKvkb

Short Screen recording on using GB Buttons: https://share.getcloudapp.com/jkuXvBwA

With regards to showing the Full name of the author, you’ll need two Dynamic Headline Blocks.

Both will have a Dynamic Text Type of author meta. Then, one will have a meta field name of first_name. Example: https://share.getcloudapp.com/NQulNmyd

The other will have its meta field name as last_name.

To align them in one row, make sure Inline width is enabled for both Headline Blocks: https://share.getcloudapp.com/GGuKl9D2

Hope this clarifies!

Hi, I'm very grateful for your help.

I've followed your instructions for adding full name but it's not working.

It's only showing one of the two, plus ticking 'Inline width' for both Headline Blocks puts it inline with the photo, which is not what is intended.

Given how long this is dragging out, would you mind going in and fixing it for me?

Thank you.

Sent, thank you!!
