    Hello Dave,

You are familiar with how I thusfar
    have language-links on my site:

    https://understand-culture.com/germany/

I might be adding many more languages.
Which means that that line will look
    rather cumbersome.

Is is possible to create a kind of drop-down
menu from which users choose the ISO two-letter code?

I suspect that that this is possible within GP.
The key will be how functional and elegant in design.

    Thanks !

    John

    Hi John,

simple option would be to use a Menu:

    1. In Appearance > Menus > Add new Menu.
Start with a Custom Link, its URL can just be # and give it label eg. Language
Then add your language links as sub menu items.

    2. On the page add a Navigation Block, and select the menu you just made.

The block has a few styling controls but if need be we can assist withs some CSS

    That was fast, Dave.
    Thank you.

    A straightforward solution
    I’ll give it a shot.

I gave it a try, Dave,
but did not get it right.

    You might have to spell
    out the steps more literally.
    Sorry.

Lets begin here with making the menu.
    See here:

    https://docs.generatepress.com/article/using-the-wordpress-menu-builder/

Follow the first 3 steps to build the menu.

Let me know once you have that.

    Menu made, Dave.
That was the easy part yesterday.

    Next step?

    Dave,

I’m off to my favorite hangout here in Bonn,
    a so-called teahouse. I won’t take my laptop
    with me.

If you can, simply map out the steps for me.

    Thanks !

Oh… they updated that block and made even less intuitive lol

In the page editor add a Navigation Block to the page, and see here how to select your newly created menu:

    Hi John,

To clarify, have you added the sub-menu items as instructed by David here?: https://generatepress.com/forums/topic/additional-menu-for-languages/#post-2599458

    That was fast.
    Thanks, Fernando.

I’m fairly sure that I set up
    the menu properly with submenu
    items.

I am not sure that I set up
    the navigation block properly.
    Here’s how I proceeded:

Create a test page (not post).
    Created a navigation block.
Chose the name of the new menu: “Languages”.
    Saved.

    See:
    https://understand-culture.com/languages/

I’m not seeing the sub-menu items. Can you share admin login credentials so we can take a closer look at why it’s not appearing?
