I hope the author can really take a look at this. I did a few tests with google ads. the ads in the upfold area usually receive over 80% of viewbility. But after using this theme, it drop alot. Especially for the right rail sidebar. They only receive less than 60% of viewbility. viewbility is mean that when a visitor vist my site, the ads appear to them right away in front of them without scroll down.
I did few tests:
Header ads for desktop 59%
mobile header ads(the very top one in the mobile) 69%
mobile 300×250 ads (below the menue bar) somehow the best 72%
right rail sidebar top unit (the worst) below 50%Those placement are the ones ppl will see the ads right away without scroll down, but somehow they receive a below 70% vewibility rate. Which hurts my ad rev badly. I very like this theme I hold the author can do some testing to fix this issue. and this has huge impact on the sites earning ad rev via CPM.
You can use google ads to do the testing as it has active viewable rate (the viewbility rate) right in the ad unit report.
This is very urgent matter, I have this issue with my advertisers and they have withhold campaigns off my site. Hope you can resolve this for me.
Thank you so much!

Lead DeveloperLead DeveloperHi Alex,
I replied to the previous topic you made about this here: https://generatepress.com/forums/topic/the-viewbility-of-the-ads-drop-since-using-this-theme/
I’m not really sure what you mean. Wouldn’t ad viewability be dependant on your site design/ad placement?
The theme itself is just a foundation – how you design it/place your ads is up to you.
Basically, where the ads display on your website is up to your placement/design. So if you place them above the fold in your design, the viewability will be higher.

I undestood what you mean. But the ads I placed in the upflod is the highest I can do. Especially for the right sidebar. The ad is the highest position in the upfold but receive around 50% of viewbility. its not making sense. and I use google ads, thats most popular ads websites they would use it for earning their income.

Lead DeveloperLead DeveloperAre those percentages coming from Google Ads themselves? Maybe their support team can shed some light on what’s going on.

The vewibility was 80%+ when I was my old theme. Can you test it on your demo site to see whats going on? I’m out of ideas. The right sidebar seems the biggest issue.

Lead DeveloperLead DeveloperI’m really not sure what a theme would have to do with it. Can you shed some light on that for me so I know what I’m looking for?
How are you testing the viewability?
November 19, 2018 at 12:49 pm #731336Zipeng
I place google ads on the top of my site and seeing viewability somehow less than 60%. Please test it out on your end to see whats wrong. Advertisers and I have been testing it out for over a month and not seeing any improvement by moving the ads higher. The ads are now on the highest position of the theme. please test it out for me. its a very urgent matter.

Lead DeveloperLead DeveloperIt’s possible that it’s down due to mobile? You’re using our Mobile Header, so your regular header ad isn’t displaying.
You can add an ad in the
after_headerhook area just for mobile by placing it inside a div like this:<div class="hide-on-desktop"> Adsense code in here </div>Using Hooks: https://docs.generatepress.com/article/hooks-element-overview/
That way it will display below the mobile header on mobile.

I use ad plugin to condition my ads to display it to desk or mobile views. Please let me know where to place my ad so it will show up.
I think the mobile header ad is the issue, I do notice that it shows up sometimes, just very very few. My advertisers said the code is missing from the header in mobile, but its there. I’m very confused.
I tested it by adding a word “test” in the header mobile ad, it did show up everytime. but not the ads. Is your mobile header conflict with the ads?
Even I disabled the mobile header, the ad still not showing up everytime.

Lead DeveloperLead DeveloperThe instructions I mentioned above should work. You just need to use our hook system to add an ad after the header. Putting it inside the
<div>I mentioned above will make sure it only appears on mobile.November 20, 2018 at 6:55 am #732189Zipeng
But its the before header ad not showing up, not the after header one in mobile.
November 20, 2018 at 8:31 am #732324Tom
Lead DeveloperLead DeveloperThat’s because your desktop ad is inside the header element, and the main header element is hidden on mobile when you have the Mobile Header activated.

I just make the change, can you take a look. The top banner still not showing up everytime. only few times.
November 20, 2018 at 9:14 am #732394Tom
Lead DeveloperLead DeveloperIt’s showing up for me: https://www.screencast.com/t/KGjrMBj7Q
That should increase your ad viewability on mobile.
On desktop, you shouldn’t have any issues, as I see two ads above the fold.

Not the 300×250 one. Its always good. Its the 300×60 one that is hard to show up. Please refresh the page like 5-10 times and you will see the 2nd unit in the mobile view. There are two of them.
