Hi
I have managed to solve most issues via finding the help in old posts, but not this one.I am creating a site here: http://yearone.solutions
My blog worked fine, until I added the CSS and Snippet to allow pages with sections to ALSO show the sidebar.
Now when I go to my blog page, the page is blank. If I click on the post title in the sidebar, it appears, but it does not show the excerpt.
It is set to show the blog page as content +sidebar. (I have tried to set to default, but to no avail.)
http://www.yearone.solutions/yearoneblog/Can you help please.
(I have ZERO coding ability – strictly copy+paste – so I am sorry but you have to be very specific. Treat me like an 8-yo old.)March 18, 2017 at 9:11 pm #294134LeoStaffCustomer SupportHi Dennis,
Can you first check if that page is set as the Posts page in Dashboard > Settings > Reading?
Let me know.
March 18, 2017 at 9:16 pm #294136DennisHi
It was set as ‘Your latests posts’I changed it to a static page that I had created that I called blogs.
That worked.
But I think I have now screwed up.
Is there a way to go back? I deleted all the demo posts/ placekeepers. How will my future posts be displayed? I feel it is now going to be problematic, unless you tell me otherwise.
(thanks for quick response on s Sunday π
BTW – if not too much to ask. IS there anyway to display the blog posts as a GRID (thumbnails etc)?
I don’t understand what Masonry etc is.March 18, 2017 at 9:26 pm #294138LeoStaffCustomer SupportThe delete posts should be in Trash. It’s underneath the title Posts in the post list page in dashboard.
Not sure what you meant by displaying future posts? They shouldn’t be problematic…
Try a few test posts and let me know if you have any questions π
March 18, 2017 at 9:29 pm #294139DennisThanks – no worries.
I just posted a TEST post, and it appears on the page. However, it does not appear in the sidebar widget?
And the finally, BTW β if not too much to ask. IS there anyway to display the blog posts as a GRID (thumbnails etc)?
I donβt understand what Masonry etc is.If not, that is fine.
Cheers again.
March 18, 2017 at 9:33 pm #294140LeoStaffCustomer SupportI think what you are looking for is Columns:
https://docs.generatepress.com/article/using-columns-in-the-blog/Make sure you turn masonry off first.
Lots other options in the customizer to customize that page too:
https://docs.generatepress.com/article/blog-overview/Let me know if that’s what you have in mind π
March 18, 2017 at 9:36 pm #294141DennisOSrry to be a nuisance – will work through above.
But I created a page for my posts, instead of just leaving the default posts in place.
That is why if now select ‘Posts’ in my reading settings, nothing appears. And as above, there is only ONE post in my sidebar wiedget even though the settinfg is for 10?
Cheers π
March 18, 2017 at 9:45 pm #294143LeoStaffCustomer SupportSorry which sidebar? The blog page says not found right now.
March 18, 2017 at 9:46 pm #294144DennisOk I think I fixed it all, except for one thing.
In the sidebar, my recent posts widget is accurate, but the RSS Widget only shows the first post.
Thanks
DennisMarch 20, 2017 at 5:14 pm #294978DennisHoping this thread is still open.
I still cannot get my RSS feed widget to be accurate.
I have since deleted it and re-installed it in my right side bar (yearone.solutions)
Now, no matter what I do, it does not even want to show in the sidebar.
If you could help me with this please.
March 20, 2017 at 8:52 pm #295052TomLead DeveloperLead DeveloperIs this RSS widget on a specific page? I’m not seeing it.
This is your feed: http://www.yearone.solutions/feed/
It looks like you only have 1 post added?
March 20, 2017 at 8:57 pm #295057DennisGreat thanks
Yes one post onlyI used yearone.solutions as the feed. I checked permalinks/ settings etc. Nowhere did I see that ‘feed’ is required.
The widget now appears.
I have now published another post, and my widget is set to show 5 posts.
The second post does not show at all – as per my last update on this topic. I thought it would be fixed if I reverted to original settings of where the blog posts are on the front page.ANy ideas on that Tom?

March 20, 2017 at 11:34 pm #295069TomLead DeveloperLead DeveloperHmm, in “Settings > Reading” in your Dashboard, what do you have set for the “Syndication feeds show the most recent” option?
March 20, 2017 at 11:36 pm #295070DennisIt is set at 5
(I don’t know how to attach a screenshot via a link)And it does not update with the latest one either, in addition to showing only one, it is not the latest.
Thanks
March 21, 2017 at 9:23 am #295289TomLead DeveloperLead DeveloperHmm, strange. What if you add more content to your second post? I wonder if there’s some sort of minimum content requirement.
Otherwise, I would try disabling plugins one by one to see if there’s a conflicting plugin.
