to click on the large red video symbol,
but then also on the small white video
symbol at the bottom-left.Is there a way to start the video

It could be an old OS issue.
I tested on my old iPhone 7+ albeit on latest iOS and it works first tap. And likewise on a iPhone 12.
I can ask the other guys to check too if you like ?Works fine on your iPhone.
