    Hi,

I’ve just migrated to GeneratePress from another theme a couple of days ago.

On my previous theme my permalink structure was host/post-name and I carried it on. But about two years ago I had changed my permalink structure from host/yyyy/mm to host/post-name. All the urls had started redirecting to the new permalink structure and everything was working well.

But now when I access the old urls with date they aren’t redirecting to the url scheme host/post-name. Everything is getting a 404 error.

I’ve tried debugging through various methods (saving the permalinks settings again, disabling and enabling plugins etc) and I don’t know what’s happening. I don’t want to create so many redirects and want to solve the problem.

Please let me know what could be going wrong here.

    Thanks a lot,
    Priyanka

    Hi there,

GP doesn’t do any redirecting, so it’s unlikely a GP issue.

All the urls had started redirecting to the new permalink structure and everything was working well.

Usually when you changed the URL structure in settings, the old permalink will lead to 404page immediately, were you using some plugin to make the redirecting happen?

    Hi Ying,

I wasn’t using a plugin. With permalink redirections you don’t have to. I had changed the permalink a while ago and all the urls got redirected on their own. With the migration to Generatepress I have also moved to Bitnami. It could be a problem connected with Bitnami I guess.

    Thanks,
    Priyanka

I was previously using the Bitnami + Apache AMI on my EC2 instance in AWS for my hosting. I have changed my hosting to Bitnami + Nginx server and since then this problem has started occurring. I realize this might not be the right forum to ask this question, but is there any additional Nginx configuration I need to do?

    Hi there,

unfortunately we cannot advise on server configurations, it really is outside of our scope and not our field of expertise.
