    Hi,
I’m trying to search for content in my “elements” (Headers, Hooks, layouts). specifically I’m wanting to search to see if a particular shortcode has been used in any elements.

I’ve tried to use the “Seach” box in elements admin are but it doesnt seem to return any results. I’m worried that maybe some custom function I have is stopping it working.

    1. Please can you tell me what the Search box in Elements actually searches for (so I can check it works on my site)
    2. Is there a way to search to see if a shortcode is being used in elements?

    Many thanks
    BW

    Hi there,

It looks like it only searches the element titles – i think this may be because the list display various post types.

Which means there isn’t a way of searching within the admin area for a shortcode within their content. You could search the database for the shortcode.

Out of curiosity – how many elements do you have ?

currently only 15 elements.. but it will grow. Can the search be extended to search content, as searching the titles is easy to do on the page listing

I’ll raise it with Tom to see if thats possible.
Its never actually come up before – generally most users keep elements down to a minimum. Can i ask what they are all for ?

    thanks David,

    I have 3 custom post types, with 2 custom headers each (1 archive, 1 singular) = 6
    Then a number of hooks:
social sharing links (used in various places throughout on 2 custom post types)
custom hook on top of archive pages for additional layout options
related links (for all 3 custom post types) at end of singular pages
a hook in the top menu
a hook at end of each page (between content and footer) used on most pages (not all)
a few custom hooks depending on user status/page options.

Being able to search the element content would be great.

    Many thanks
