To install GP Premium, you must first download it through your account (https://generatepress.com/account) or through your receipt email.
The file will save to your computer as gp-premium.zip – then you can upload it as a plugin.

Never mind – installation might have been clearer with a few heads-up at the start about having to install through Appearance > Plugins, and not Appearance > Themes. But once I got it installed (by following the instructions that appeared after the plugin was installed), I’m finding it quite wonderful – exactly what I needed as a replacement for the soon-to-be WordPress-incompatible and no longer maintained Woothemes Canvas. I’m telling as many Canvas devs as I can!
OK, I got GP Free installed by following the tiny breadcrumbs…

Tom – it’s beyond “enjoying GP” – I’m stoked.
On another subject, I think there’s a significant opportunity for GP to become known among users of Woothemes Canvas who are truly despairing over having to convert their sites to another theme, now that Woo has stopped developing Canvas, because it will be incompatible with the changes coming for WP in 2018. See especially the comment thread here: https://woocommerce.com/2017/10/saying-goodbye-to-canvas/. Some of these devs are facing having to convert 200 sites! As a Canvas user myself, I tried Googling on “replacement for Woothemes Canvas” and a variations, and found nothing at all. My search by way of Divi, X, Beaver Theme, Genesis child themes, etc. just had me pulling lots of hair and grinding enamel – very frustrating. So far, what I’m seeing is that GP is an ideal replacement for Canvas, only better, because it’s lighter, more logically organized, and uses the Customizer, etc. I think an article with “replacing Woothemes Canvas” or such in the title would draw a LOT of readers. I found my way to GP via Design Build Web, specifically this article: https://www.designbuildweb.co/best-wordpress-theme-non-coder-graphic-designers/. If you linked to it, it would save you a ton of work explaining why GP makes such a good GP replacement, as Don did a tremendous job. Anyway, I’m hoping a lot of Canvas users will discover GP, because it’s a really agonizing moment for them. And for converting multiple sites, the ability to export GP settings is a great help. – George
