GenerateBlocks Pro 2.6 Brings Forms and Styles Editing

GenerateBlocks Pro 2.6 alpha is available for testing, bringing full CSS editing to blocks and Global Styles, along with the new Form Block.

GenerateBlocks 2.6 is one of our biggest releases yet. This version introduces a complete forms system, opens up direct CSS editing for block styles and Global Styles, and includes a long list of refinements and fixes across the plugin.

Here’s what’s new.

A Native Forms System

GenerateBlocks now ships with a built-in forms system, with Contact and Email signup forms available out of the box. You can configure form emails and confirmation emails, send submissions to webhooks, and connect directly to the email marketing and automation tools you already use, including Mailchimp, Kit (formerly ConvertKit), MailerLite, ActiveCampaign, and Brevo. Turnstile integration is included for spam protection, so you can keep submissions clean without an additional plugin.

We’ll have a dedicated post walking through the new Form block soon.

Direct CSS Editing for Blocks and Global Styles

Power users have been asking for this one for a while. You can now write CSS directly against individual block styles and Global Styles, with full Dev Tools support so your changes show up where you expect them. There’s also a new Edit CSS command and a toolbar shortcut on GenerateBlocks blocks, so jumping into custom styling takes a single click.

A full write-up on the Global Styles editing improvements is available here.

Tweaks and Reliability Improvements

A handful of changes under the hood make the editor and frontend feel more solid: Global Style undo/redo previews stay in sync more reliably, the Pattern Library has tighter permission checks, remote Global Style data is handled more defensively, and we’ve reduced the number of frontend queries needed for pattern and menu support handling.

Bug Fixes

This release also clears out a stack of bugs:

  • Conditions in use can no longer be accidentally deleted, and the Conditions REST API now enforces stricter capability checks
  • Incomplete Conditions usage scans before deletion are now handled correctly
  • Overlays now re-open on the back button, parse zero values in their config properly, and respect a cookie duration of 0 as a session cookie
  • Fixed a MutationObserver cascade in Accordion items
  • Fixed duplicate sub-menu IDs when parent menu items lacked an ID
  • Fixed RTL Carousels, media handling inside carousels, and block selection inside fade carousels in the editor

GenerateBlocks Pro 2.6 is available as an alpha release. Download the alpha release in your account area and use it on a test site. You will also want to install GenerateBlocks 2.3.0 alpha, which contains code to support functionality in GenerateBlocks Pro 2.6.0 alpha. We’re looking forward to your feedback on these new features.

  1. Really great !
We’ve been looking at the new Unblock WP features recently, some of them are exciting and it’s a good thing it’s coming to GB as well.
Next to-do, a better Global Styles handling, with groups, CSS variables and flexible management.
Thank you for your hard work 🔥

  2. CSS editing is a great feature — I actually mentioned this in the survey. However, I feel that access to this functionality should be easier, both for local styles and global styles.

It would also be useful to have code suggestions while typing. For example, if I type “fs” and press Tab, it could expand to “font-size”.

Take a look at the video: https://videos.7seconds.pl/recordings/AfPiU23u6DSFx8asH4Jw?onlyRecording=1 I tried to build something similar. I didn’t have time to refine it, but the editing there is fast and changes are reflected almost immediately.

I have two modes: automatic synchronization and manual synchronization via a button or a keyboard shortcut. The video shows automatic synchronization, but I set the delay a bit too high.

  3. Installed the development versions for GB , but I can not see any forms block available. I got it something wrong there?

    • Ensure you have both GenerateBlocks 2.3.0 alpha and GenerateBlocks Pro 2.6 alpha installed, then head to GenerateBlocks > Settings and toggle on the Forms module. It isn’t on by default. Let us know if you need more assistance. Thank you for giving the alpha a test!

  4. Very interested to see the post about the forms. I can’t imagine it will be a replacement for Gravity Forms (Biggest use case for me is conditional logic, Stripe integration), but would love to remove one more plugin from my setups if it could (Nothing against Gravity Forms as it’s fantastic, just like a lighter install if possible)

    • Coming soon! Our intention isn’t to replace the full functionality of GravityForms or similar systems. But for simple forms like contact forms or email subscriptions that don’t require as much logic, we think you’ll like our implementation.

  5. Hello, everyone. I’m trying out the ‘Forms’ block and I think the basic form would be perfect if you added a option for mandatory tickbox along the lines of ‘I have read and accept the privacy policy’, with a link to the privacy page on the same line.
