Hi Tom,
first of all, thanks a lot for this great theme!
I have started using it some days ago and it’s really brilliant and well documented.Last thing I tried to implement was a breadcrumb navigation and as you suggested in this forum I used Yoast SEO (v 2.3.5) but somehow I got an error in the backend. GP (v 1.3.20)
Backend is not loading when I click Appearance -> Customize
UPDATE: I just realized this is just happening when I use the German backend, when I switch to English everything is fine. So probably a translation problem.

Maybe it’s an incompatibility with another plugin – can you try #1 on this article?: https://generatepress.com/knowledgebase/debugging/

thanks for your reply. That’s actually how I figured out it is Yoast.
I can reproduce it, if I turn off Yoast it’s working, if I turn it on it’s not. (if German is active)
I just checked with the firefox console and got the following error message:
The character encoding of the HTML document has not been declared. The document will be presented in some browser configurations with garbled text if the document contains characters outside the US-ASCII range. The character encoding of the page must be declared in the document or transfer protocol.
I guess this is why the problem occures. When Yoast is activated there is an additional menu point on “appearance -> customize”. As this is in the backend question is is this a problem of your theme or of Yoast.

I played around abit more and it looks like it has nothing to do with you theme.
Switched to one of the standard themes and I am having the same issue.November 18, 2015 at 9:12 am #153998TomLead DeveloperLead DeveloperHi Marc,
Good to know – you may want to report it to Yoast so they’re able to investigate and get it fixed.
Thanks! ๐

Yep I’m definetly let them know.
December 1, 2015 at 5:07 am #157024MarcHi Tom!
Just wanted to let you know, that I figured out what the problem was.
PHP memory limit was to low and this resulted in the blank page after I installed YOAST.
Mean thing was that if I used the English backend it was just enough to work and if I switched to German it wasn’t. I realized it when I switched to debug mode in WP.So if anyone has problems with a blank page without any error message it problably is the memory limit.
