Yoast eye icon not highlighting suggestions

Hi;
I am using Generatepress with generateblocks. When I edit my site's woocommerce product pages, the Yoast eye icon highlights the suggestions but when I go to my GP regular site pages it stops highlighting.

Actually there's nothing to explain with a screenshot because all you see is the Yoast plugin with the eye icon activated but no text highlighted on the genratepress page.
Again it is working on woocommerce pages but not on GP pages. Now if you want I can get and try to upload a screenshot

Here is the screen shot

Thank you for attaching a screenshot!

I don’t believe this is a theme related issue. I tested this functionality on my test site, and was not able to replicate the issue on the latest versions of our products.

See: https://share.getcloudapp.com/4gurbmEG

Perhaps you can try using a different theme temporarily to see if the issue can be replicated in a different theme?

It would be ideal to take a backup of your site before doing so.

It may also be good to reach out to Yoast support to get their insight with regards to this.

Kindly let us know.

If it is not theme-related what it could be?
At the same time, I did not understand what do you mean by using a different theme?
Do you mean that I use a totally another theme for the site which I have built and is almost ready to go?
Extremely confusing answer...
Again with the same theme, Yoast works fine with my woocommerce pages but not actual ordinary pages.

Sorry about the confusion.

I couldn’t replicate the issue from my end which is why we’ll need to see what’s causing the issue.

It would be be best to also reach out to Yoast support though with regards to this.

Testing if the issue exists with a different theme is one course of debugging if you would like to make sure if this or this isn’t a GP related issue.

You can take a backup of your site which you can revert to after testing.

Posts and Pages are still governed by WordPress and not GeneratePress. We just add functionalities to allow more modifications. So in essence, the pages and posts aren’t “GeneratePress Pages”. They’re WordPress pages/posts.

But, as mentioned, it would be best to reach out to Yoast first to see if they have any insights.

Hope this clarifies!

Thanks for not helping. Worst support case ever with you guys!
I was going to make all company sites with GP, but after this, I can say that you are not reliable.
Yes, Yoast and I have to solve your issue. I got the point...
EXTREMELY DISAPPOINTING

Sorry I couldn’t help Babak. As mentioned, I couldn’t replicate the issue from my test website on updated GP products and our products are coded in line with the WordPress codex standards. That is, it should work seamlessly with other plugins coded in-line with the same Codex.

Going back, since the Yoast functionality you mentioned works from my end, if you would like, as another course of debugging, you could also try #1 here leaving Yoast behind to test if a third party plugin is causing this: https://docs.generatepress.com/article/debugging-tips/

It would be good to take a backup of your site as well for this step.

Hope you understand.

Is there any way to switch to the original WP editor and back to generateblock editor later? Yoast plugin works in original WP editor.

Is there any way to switch to the original WP editor and back to generateblock editor later?

Not sure if I fully understand.

GenerateBlocks does not have its own editor - it uses the current default WordPress editor which is called Gutenberg or known as the block editor.

Did Yoast's support team comment on the issue yet? I also don't believe it's a theme related issue.

screenshot 1 is the editor that yoast work in it and is for woocommerce pages of the site.
screenshot 2 is the one that yoast does not work with it and I use it with generatepress.
These 2 screenshots and editors are from the same site and same installation.
Is there any way to use generatepress with the editor you see in screenshot 1 so the Yoast will work?
Yoast support did not comment on my issue and I have already built 5 sites with GP in a multisite installation which I cannot play with too much and change themes etc...
Desperately looking for a workaround.

Hi there,

The 1st screenshot shows a classic editor, the 2nd screenshot shows a block editor, both are WP's editors.

But WP has stopped supporting classic editor, so it's better to convert your sites to block editor asap.

A lot of GP users are using Yoast in block editor with no issue including myself, so it's not possible to be a theme issue.

I would recommend to disable your classic editor plugin to test, if that doesn't work, you'll need to reach out to Yoast's support.

Thanks do you know how I can convert to block editor and if there's a possibility that if it doesn't work to switch back?
