Hi everyone,

I'm new to WP and GP, so please be gentle ;-) Having said that, I've probably read more about WP, before actually installing the software, than any other human on the planet! Whether that was a good idea or not, I don't know :)

Before I install WP and GP, can you please tell me if I should change the table-prefix wp_ in wp-config.php ?

I've read this is good practice in terms of security. However, I've also read this could prevent some plugins and scripts from working as they're programmed to access your database and assume you're table prefix is set to default.

Thanks.

Steve

You should definitely change the wp_ prefix to something unique. Keeping it as wp_ does pose a pretty significant security risk.

However, make sure you only change it if you haven't installed yet.

If you've already installed WordPress using that prefix, you'll want to install a plugin like iThemes Security which allows you to change the prefix after installation.

Thanks Tom, will do.

You're welcome :)
