I had been using WP Smush WordPress add-in until the most recent update, which slowed the load time of my site considerably. Once I disabled it, my site loads fast. Just a heads-up if anyone else is experiencing this problem.

This happened to my wife’s website as well – I moved her to a new host and couldn’t figure out why the site wouldn’t load. WP Smush was the issue.

Hopefully they’re able to figure out any issues it has pretty quickly.

I’ll try the next version/update of Smush and post back if it plays nice or not. πŸ˜‰

If I disable (uncheck) the box to Smush images on upload, then my site loads normally. I just have to manually Smush each image or use the bulk image Smusher for now. Not a big deal since my site is not too heavy on large images. YMMV πŸ™‚

Its true. That’s why its highly recommended to deactivate the plugin once you have done bulk smushing.

You don’t need to run this on daily basis.

    Hope this will help.
