WP-Show Posts excluding a certain category

Hi,
How can we exclude certain categories (like the featured posts) while using WP-Show Posts to display recent posts?
(I can do it by entering the ID of the featured post on the settings but there must be a way to automate it, so whenever a post is selected as featured category, it shouldn't be displayed on the recent posts)

You can choose certain categories for the WP show posts list.

Just don't select the featured category.
Make sure the featured posts are only under the featured category, otherwise it will still show in the list.
That's a problem then. How can we disable the displaying of a post if it has 'featured' category among others? The post needs to have other categories in order to be listed in archive listings etc.

select the Categories you want to exclude.
Then go to the More Settings tab and change the Tax Operator to: NOT IN
