WordPress 5.9 Update Problem

When I use Ajax Add to Cart the item is added, it automatically updates as it should. But when I click back to a previous page the cart is not updated with the correct quantity. Before I never had problems with this until the recent update of WordPress 5.9. The cart update works fine in desktop, but in mobile it is not working as it should. It doesn't work like it use to before.

Why is the item number in cart not updating like it does on desktop?
How can I solve this. I've looked all over without a solution.

Hi Sal,

For the purpose of testing this out, I've made a sandbox site using GP's "Niche".

Setup details: WordPress 5.9, WooCommerce 6.1.1, GP Premium 2.1.1, GeneratePress 3.1.1

I've tried the ajax add to cart on a mobile device. (Device details: Google Chrome - Android - Redmi Note 9s).

It seems to be working fine as after adding a product to the cart. The quantity and the item itself is still retained even when I browse around the site.

That said, it may be an isolated issue on your site specifically. Can you provide an occurrence of this issue? Perhaps let us access the site and check a few things?

OK. Try this. First on desktop computer. Go to shop. Click on item to go to single product page and add to cart. Then click the back arrow in browser to return to previous page which is the shop. The item quantity and cart will be updated.

Now if you do this in mobile, the cart will not be updated once you click back arrow to return to previous page.

This is important for customers to have access to the cart if they don't choose to use hamburger menu and click shop to return. When I mean back to shop I'm talking about using the back button on cellphone nav bar. I hope I explained it well

Wait. I used a different browser. For some reason using Google Chrome I face this issue. Internet explorer it works. Not sure why.

It's a browser cache issue. Try clearing your browser cache.

This one is a caching issue as well. This is why it happens - https://developer.mozilla.org/en-US/docs/Mozilla/Firefox/Releases/1.5/Using_Firefox_1.5_caching

Solutions are also suggested on this article. :D

So this is the strange thing. I tested all other web browsers (Opera, Firefox and Internet Explorer) on THIS device(my cellphone) and there was no issue. Just with Google Chrome. BUT I have an OLD phone that I used to access the site through Google Chrome browser and IT WORKED! It worked with the others (Opera, Firefox, Internet Explorer) . So for some reason the new phone or certain settings regarding Google Chrome on this new device is the problem, I think.

I also have a cloud host server. I purged my cache in web host in addition to clearing cache on browser and app settings , but for some reason the issue is exclusive to the device and Google Chrome. Do you have any idea what else it might be? I don't understand caching too well. Thank you.

If you've applied the necessary things to be applied on the site, the next thing to do would be to clear the phone's cache and try again.

There are apps for clearing a phone's cache but it should be doable w/ through Chrome as well. :D
