I wanted to confirm before I go down the wrong path:
I feel like there should be an element layout or element block that would allow me to create my own single product page layout.
I feel like between the template tags, and the way that the site header and footer can be created in elements, the tools are all there.
That said, I’m not finding or figuring out how to make that happen. Am I just expecting too much out of elements, or am I missing something in GP?
Thanks!

StaffCustomer SupportHi there,
the Elements module at this time won’t allow you to build your own Woocommerce templates. You can of course use the Layout Element for making theme level changes to those templates, and the Block/Hook/Header Elements to insert content within the Woocommerce templates.
However we do have some future plans for building Woo templates. To begin in GPP 2.0 we introduce theme building with the Block Element:
https://generatepress.com/introducing-the-gp-theme-builder/
Once we have this update closed off we will begin working on some Woo specific updates to GPP to extend the Woo module as well as looking at how the new block elements can be integrated.
Is there any particular layout you’re trying to achieve today ? As we may be able to point you in the right direction. For example if you check the Niche and Merch websites in the Site Library they both use Hooks and a little custom code to change the default woo layout.

Wow! Yeah, GPP 2.0 is exactly what I’m talking about. I see where you’re going with what you’ve got in Elements and Layouts, so I wasn’t sure if I was just missing what is there, or, in this case, seeing where things are going before they get there.
Looking forward to GPP 2.0, and that definitely confirms that I made the right decision to go 100% with GeneratePress and GenerateBlocks.
At this moment, I don’t know what I’ll need for the current project I’m working on. I just wanted to make sure I was starting with the correct foundation. I’ll check out Niche and Merch for tips on what’s possible as things stand now.
I’m excited to see what the future of GP holds!

StaffCustomer SupportAwesome – glad to hear that !!

Okay, I’ve built test sites with Merch and Niche. And I’m poking around trying to understand what they’ve done. It looks like they’re using hooks to insert some special functionality, but, yeah, it’s nothing like how powerful the Dynamic Data of GPP 2.0 is going to be.
I’ll do what I can on my own, and check back in if I get stuck.
Thanks!

Hi
I’m looking at using the ‘Search’ from the library.
Does this design allow for Woocommerce and associated pages?
At present I’ve installed Woocommerce, but products are not being displayed on a page, so I’m wondering whether by default Woocommerce can be installed on any GP libray design or not?
Thanks
Andrew

StaffCustomer SupportHi there,
yes, you can install Woocommerece regardless of what site you installed.
For Woo to function you have to specify the pages where you want your Shop to be displayed.
Create a new Page – call it Shop for example. Then go to Dashboard > Woocommerce > Settings > Products tab and then select the Page you created.March 19, 2021 at 5:35 am #1701637Andrew
Hi David
Thanks for your reply.
Maybe I wasn’t clear in my previous – all the default shop pages were created with the Woo install and all the settings were as you stated.
However, the issue is that all products are not appearing in the shop page (only 3 of current 5 products).
Additionally, clicking on any of the three products in the shop page results in the site flipping back to the home page (ie you cannot view any individual product – this is also the case when trying to view a product via ‘view’ in the ‘all products’ page of Woo.
I’ve not seen this before on a Woo site (I’ve created and setup a few without any issues), but this is the first time I’ve tried to create one with GP>
Any further advice.
If you want an admin login maybe I can email you details?
Thanks
Andrew

StaffCustomer SupportSounds like a caching issue.
Glad to hear its now working !October 4, 2021 at 8:34 pm #1952801Website Psychiatrist
Hi David,
Just checking in on the WooCommerce functionality that you teased back in March:“Once we have this update closed off we will begin working on some Woo specific updates to GPP to extend the Woo module as well as looking at how the new block elements can be integrated.”
I’m going to need to be reworking the product pages for one of my customers and I was hoping to delay doing the work until the new bells and whistles are available.
Any News?

StaffCustomer SupportHi Bill,
i wouldn’t delay any projects on a GPP update. Woo is going through some major updates itself with more block integrations ( you can read some of it here ) which we are reviewing to ensure we don’t paint ourselves into a corner.
If you want to raise a new topic regarding the changes you need to make to the single product we would be happy to provide some pointers.

StaffCustomer SupportHi Heinrich,
no updates, apart from everything taking a lot longer than expected!
We’re still waiting to see what direction Woo takes. -
