RE: Images – when using a sharing site like you have you just need to add the URL – i edited your original post to show that 🙂

You can remove sidebars in Customizer > Layout > Sidebars:

FYI: The search and archive widgets are added by WP by default when an empty sidebar is present.

Hey, sorry what I mean is, I want the side bars but I want it to be blank. No widgets. I cannot seem to remove the “search” or “archive” widget.

Whats the purpose of an empty sidebar ?

If thats what you need add a HTML Widget to the sidebar – and add a HTML comment to the content:

The end goal is basically having the blog archive page with wide margins. When I take off the side bar it becomes almost full width.

I would suggest removing the sidebars and adjusting the content width using a Layout Element:
