I need to widen the content page more than I have it already. I tried to take off the padding on either side. But there is still a lot of white space on either side. Can I use PHP to widen it?

StaffCustomer SupportHi there,
Have you tried increasing the global container width?
https://docs.generatepress.com/article/container-width/You can use Layout Element to apply different container widths to different pages as well:

Yes, I did increase the global container width. I will work on the layout element for the pages that need to be wider.
On another site, I need to do the opposite, move the container in as there is no space on the left side. I have content/sidebar for all pages. I reset the container under customize. But the left margin it’s still smack to the left. I even tried changing the padding on the left side but no matter what I do it doesn’t change the left side position. I don’t have an element for layout only headers. I don’t know how to fix that issue.

If I just click on this link, you see the left page is wide to the point the words are smack up to the end of the left side page as is the image.

Is this option on the home page?

Okay, I need more clarity as I have been working on this for too long. What I see is:
1. My front/home page does not change with any customization or elements I create.
2. When I reset the customize layout it works for all pages but the front page.
3. I need to know what overwrites what in page formatting. For instance, do all the pages of the theme change with customization? Do elements overwrite the customize (default) settings? I need to know how the changes work. If I have that understanding then I can adjust pages as needed. Right now I feel like I am working in the dark. When I follow the instructions of using the element layout, it changes all the pages but the home page so I am getting really frustrated.I set the customize>layout of both container and sidebar to the original settings of the original theme (Peak).
I deleted any element I created for layout so I can start fresh, however, doing that did not change anything. I need some help on knowing how to fix the boxes, columns, and text from being so far left it can’t be read.Nanette

Lead DeveloperLead DeveloperThat metabox that Leo linked to can be found when editing the home page (https://docs.generatepress.com/article/page-builder-container/).
If you edit the page and find that area, is the option set to “Full Width” or “Default”.
If it’s set to Full Width, set it to Default and save.
If it’s set to Default, do you have a “Layout” element published and set to the front page?: https://docs.generatepress.com/article/layout-element-overview/
It has the same option which you can apply to pages.
I’m guessing it’s the Layout metabox while editing the actual page.
Let me know π

Yes, it was the metabox and thank you. Now that everything is reset, I still want to widen the pages. How can I do that so there is less space on either side and without it squashing my sidebar too much? Would you suggest I do that in elements/Layout?
