Hello, I have a post layout where the featured image is set to full size in the Customizer settings, but when I check the post and look at the image file location, it is taking a medium-large thumbnail (768×0 size).

I’m wondering how I can get the featured image to show my full size image (800×400) here: https://www.thedermdetective.com/wp-content/uploads/2020/08/Caudalie-Vinoperfect-Radiance-Serum-Review.png

    Thanks,
    Tom

    Hi there,

i am not 100% sure – but this may be happening because the image without the padding being removed only requires a 718px image. Which would mean a 768px would be correct.

You can test that theory by increasing the Container width so the original ( without padding removed ) is greater than 768px.

Got it, I think I understand. You’re saying the blog width (just the blog, not the sidebar and separating space) is 768px and removing the padding reduces the image width to just 718px.

Okay, good to know. On a related note, what thumbnail sizes, if any, does GeneratePress rely on? I am trying to reduce my media file disk space and am experimenting with disabling WordPress default thumbnails (small: 150×150 and medium: 300×300). Just want to verify that this won’t break something with GeneratePress.

    Thank you!

GP doesn’t rely on any – as the best sizes vary depending on your layout.
Looking at your site i see:

300px for smaller device arhive images.
768px/800px for your single post image
1000px for your Featured Post in the Blog.
